I have been struggling to make a custom CDI for the past 2 weeks or so. And, today the bike finally fired. I will be updating details about my CDI here on this thread. Right now, the CDI is operating under static timing. I need to get the base timing right before tweaking the dynamic timings. Programming required for this is almost done. I will also add a TPS to the CDI to vary the timings under load. When the project is done, rider will be able to vary the timing in real time while the engine is running at any speed.
I want a few help here. This will make my project that much easier to complete.
1. How may degree before TDC is the trigger coil (pulsar coil) located. On my bike the stock timings are 10 deg BTDC at 1000 rpm and 28 deg BTDC at 3000 rpm. Is the trigger coil at 28 deg mark or more? (I do not have a strobe light, hence the question.)
2. At what voltage does the ignition coil operate? 100V appears to be somewhat weak. Upto how much can the ignition coil tolerate? (I do not have a CRO too!
)PS - The bike is P150 Classic.



Go figure. This and many other problems have caused some glitches! And yeah its a waste spark system just like the original one..
