  • Information on : Fuel Injectors for ZMA

    HI guys,
One of my friends owns a ZMA, and he is crazy about getting Fuel Injectors for her.
I would want the innovative minds to put some light on the curiousity of one's creativity if it is possible. He has done 5400kms in 45 days. And have some long trips under his belt including one for 24hrs covering 950kms from NEw delhi- Ahmedabad.

    Bottomline :
Where does he looks for the Fuel injectors [?]
What is the price ratio he should expect [?]
Masters of the trade to help him with in Delhi [?]
ANd above all Would it be reliable enough for ZMA life terms [?]

Anxiously waiting for like headed & hearted people to give comments.

Dude if I was your friend i'd stick to my Carb cos if your not goin in for computer/electronically controlled fuel injectors your looking for loadza trouble cos calibrating mechanical ones is a pain in the butt..he needs some serius thinkin to do before he goes in for this stuff..
live life on the edge or ur wasting too much space..

He can try Haltech and a Wolf 3d system (Both costly)
Or if he is a DIY junkie he can opt for My16M

A assembled one will cost 750 AUD (Approx 24K INR)
But he will still have to do all the tuning and stuffs since the the may not have heard about ZMA/Puslar/Etc
Only kit will cost 250 AUD (ALl this is for My16M

You can expect 25% increase in Power and 10% inscrease in Mileage
The test set is magneto driven built from scratch instead of battery drive kits mentioned above. The test system here is KLX 250.

All above system are programmed with Laptop/Desktop via serial port

And finally if you want to do this yourself
You can source injector and lambda sensor from Zen or something
Not sure how can you measure engine temprature (Since I am not sure where you can put sensor to check engine oil temp)
You will have build fuel pump yourself for building the pressure

The pulse width can be incorporated in the circuit or any PDA along for the injector

For the comp control you can build your own circuit or use GPL designed Mini Megasquirt (http://mini-ms.com/)

I propose yousing your own PDA (Such as Pocket PC or Zaurus)

            Regards

man its a impossibly complicate mod just not owrth it, he might as well buy a bigger better bike, it requires too much r&d by soemone who has extensive knowledge about fixing & modyfying fuel injectors, i dont know anyone who would want to take this project on, its just not worth it

but golem one thing for sure, this information is wonderful.
I never thought some one can come up with so much info about this topic but now its upto him to decide. I think with that money he will think twice but I know he will go for it.

I think it'll be better for him to stick with the company carbs... If he does want a FI upgrade (which will definitely be very costly), ask him to wait till the batch of FI bikes get released sometime next year..

well, thats what he is doing now.
He said Yamaha is coming with FI but I m not sure his source.
So, he said he will use those FI on his bike if they get one to come into the market.
Lets see how it goes... Nice tip still Ken.

i was looking for just this since a long time.
it would be better to import the whole engine assembly of some other bike and try fitting it into ur zma(its illegal though)just dream of a twin cylinder zma 600?
                      ride safe 4 ur family

@ ayush : I dont think our ZMA frame can handle 600CC...
Its just a dream but practically still not possible.
You can try the same on comet that still might see some daylight!

                          boo hoo dude

dude,i shared ur enthusiasm abt 'fi' ing my uni and rtr160(2008) model... i tried all my contacts abt the 'fi' ing the rtr as the new fi version was released
i even spoke to the tvs company engineers, who said that it is impossible to fit it on rtr itself....forget the uni..... they said that the fi kit had to be factory fitted by some comp s*^t,and even if any prob arises with the existing fi's in the rtr 160 fi version, the service center ppl would not touch it(only if v.smal prob).....it also would require some mounts karthe....
RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!

Well i think you can actually get this thing done for once, the Karizma's mill is actually borrowed from a Honda CRF230F which is a moto-cross bike and is widely sold in the Brazillian and US, If the original CRF being sold abroad has been Fuel-Injected, then your job is very simple, just get the Fuel Injection system (ECM, Injectors and so on) and retro fit it onto your bike, and one more thing you need to look out for is that the CRF230 has a six-speed gearbox whereas the ZMA is a five-speed only, and due to this the gearbox also must be fitted onto the ZMA, and i don't think your friend would not want that either
I'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.
