  • Project BX350 (update)

i am sure u must have got very curious after reading such a cool title. this is a name i have given to my quest for the most powerful bullet 350 in india. i am studying bullets and their modifications for almost 2 months now. i have studied various modded bikes like Fritz Egli's 624, Cafe Racer GT, Continental etc etc. for those who have not read my guide to bullet modifications, please refer http://www.xbhp.com/forum/topic.bike?TOPIC_ID=6870 .

well, what plans i have for my 7 months old bullet 350. first keep the bike stock till aug 2005, coz my bike is still in warranty and anyway it's always advisable to start meddling with your machine only after u've clocked 15-20K kms. so the project will commence after aug 2005 only. anyway meanwhile i have to do a fesability study and gather sources from where i can find the parts.

these are the following mods i am planning to implement on my bullet. members views, suggestions and advice are most welcome.

    1. performance air filter (K&N or Uni)
    2. 32mm Mikuni Carb suitably jetted
    3. high compression ratio PISTON
    4. stronger CH valves and springs etc, higher lift camshafts, samrat rockers, better quality pushrods and bla bla bla
    5. stronger connecting rod
    6. high capacity oil pump feed and return.
    7. heavy duty clutch
    8. free flow exhaust
    9. electrical mods (regulator, rectifier)

the above are what i think are good for the bike.. there maybe many more mods that will be done by the mech..

modifications will be done by : Guru Nandan, Bangalore
cost of the mods is expected to be around 20-25K.
the project is expected to be completed before DEC 2005

the bike is expected to produce 22-23 BHP @ 6000~rpm with top speed of 130~kmph (true speed)

old timers to this page might have noticed that i have removed the stroke reduction mod.. i have cancelled this mod, since it is a big risk and ofcourse u have to change literally the entire engine. so it will be stock 70mm*90mm bore * stroke configuration..

Hey Dude all mod sounds logically except close gear ratio as its ment only for high speed engines only i.e. RPM should be above 9000 and Bullet is hardly of 5500 RPM.Keep on posting about the progress of mods best of luck for your BX350.

my only worry is the gearbox.. all the engine power is a waste if it doesn't have proper gears.... mmost probably i'll import a 5 speed gearbox from usa.. well, my sister is in usa.. so it should not be much of a problem..

                    @nizan
all the mods i've mentioned will not cost more than 50K and that's a very optimistic ... it will cost around 35-45K... i purchased bullet for 67K .. so i invest 1,10,000 in my bullet.. and what i get is a 25~ bhp vintage monster. i don think it's a bad deal. i agree with u , abt me achieving all.. gearbox is impossible and maybe pistons too will be hard to find.. but hey the cheapest cbr400 rr goes for 2~ lakhs and that comet too is priced at a whopping 1.67 lakhs...

but just the fact that u own a bike which no one in the country has... priceless !!!

u may find the above list too daunting, but ask any bulleteer or a person who has some knowledge about bullets... bullets are simple bikes to modify... and all i am planning to do is get rid of all bad quality parts with good quality improved parts...

COSMETICS and electrics are just extra's, i am only bothered about the engine mods and it will not cost more than 25K... only pistons, clutch are expensive in that list.... if i have money left then only i'll go for other things..
