  • NOS on Baby R1?

    Hey Buddies,
I've going through the threads regarding the NOS and the sprockets posted by harish. I must say i'm really confused between these things. I will be getting my R15 in january and wanted to install the Nos and sprockets for higher power. However many people being opposed to this iam find myself banging my head against to the wall. Iam totally stuck. All Friends have a r15 who keep racing regularly and i want to be the top chap between them. I havent told anything about this to them and will never to keep them guessing whats the hell is on my bike

I av read the thread regarding fast street spec r15 of joel kicking the shit out of p220 by three seconds. I really aprreciate the work and wish the same power for my coming my R15. I would be gratefull to you people if you guide me on whats the best to gain the max power on my would be R15. Also will be there any harm in doing so and cost of the operation should be negligble. I hope you understand what I really want.
    Thanks Xbhpians
    A really cofused Chap

if u make ur bike long gearing, u'll be able to pull more in each gear, u'll be one gear lower than other stock bikes. that means ur top gear will be real overdrive then.

r 15's front sprocket size is 14-T. if u ride for very short distance put 13-T at front, if u ride it for long distance n if u want more top end, u can put 15-T at front.

But harish i've found plenty not going by your idea. Dont you think that the nos will effect if applied directly. . .

if you are a straight line hero, then what harish said is right. if you feel like racing, see how long the stretch of road will be. a smaller front sprocket and larger rear sprocket will increase acceleration and reduce top speed. it means instead of topping out at 130, your bike will top out at 120 but will get there faster. it is possible to make the top speed 100 but make it get there really fast. so if the stretch of road you are racing on is really short and you dont get over 100 then this is the way to go.

If the stretch of road is really long then get a bigger front sprocket or smaller rear sprocket to get better top speed, but lower acellereation. however your bike will not have the power to gain those final 10 kph. changing sprockets does no real mechanical damage to the bike at all and anyone who has even a little bit of experience will know this.

putting nos on a bike like that is about as stupid as sticking your head in a hot oven in my books. Instead of racing in a straight line, try using the bike in the way it was meant to be . get some gear and corner properly

Yeah. But I can use the NOS for intant acceleration and sprockets for higher top end. Moreover i weight 80 and fellas around55-60. That weight would surely put my bike behind.

go ahead and do it then. when your new bike blows a head gasket, you can sit there wondering..... Ride the bike for what it was made for. do you see people like joel putting nos on their bikes?? There are plenty of modifications that you can do before you even think about nos. I think watching stupid unrealistic movies like dhoom have skewed your perception a little bit

and Need for Speed games also. :P Just kidding.

The best way is Joel's way, in my opinion

Thnks for the advice. I was just taken away by the BIKE INDIA Article on Nos. Any easy modification that can boost my top end as well acceleration?

To get really good figures lots of internal modifications have to be done. It isnt a child's play. NOS on these puny bikes is bullshit. Altering the gearing can be of some help. Short gearing for outright acceleration or tall gearing for higher top speeds provided the mill generates enough power. Hyderabad is of no good for real performance mods. What do u want to make out of the bike? A pure drag R15? Or a lord of the streets R15? Whatever maybe the case the bike's reliability would be hit to some extent and much greater if its a drag setup.
These mods are the things which no tuner would like to disclose openly on a forum. For a rough idea of what needs to be done go through Joel's thread.

Dude, go with sprocketing or better yet if you want to race on a track put your money in the racing kit by Yamaha.

Nos is a dangerous thing to play around with. You do know what your maintenance cost will be once you go the way of the laughing gas right?

if you are really serious about modding your bike, try to get ecu remapped, or import one.
                            mod engine for higher compression,
then some high lift cam stuff.
sprocketing can give good results if your engine makes more power and/or more revs.

My Advice, dont blow up an expensive engine with some dirty tricks. There are 100 other ways of going faster with gasoline alone. NOS is for outright race engines, provided they are built to handle the additional boost and abuse. All our indian engines are far from handling it reliably.
