Its good to read these statistics. Riders cannot rely on a designated driver to abstain and bring them back home safely. Although this doesn't mean riders have gone soft, and don't party hard enough. Most riders (including yours truly) usually plan ahead and crash overnight at whichever friend's place is closest to the party spot. The ride back home the morning after is usually bleary eyed, but done safely after downing enough water to rehydrate the system

But the stats are not of India. Here, the scenario is entirely different !

indian riding scenes are also improving...its good to see people putting 2-2500 for helmets rather than taking the roadside 200rs ones..
even planetdsg and others are giving good and cheaper gears which people are buying.this wasnt the scene 5 years back.

It good to see that most riders avoid drinking and riding.

Couple of days back I was returning home from Indiranagar at around 11.00 PM. Near the GPO police were stopping all vehicles and checking the car drivers and bike riders using the Breathalyser. There was a bike infront of me with a pillion rider. Suddenly the pillion rider jumps down, the "Rider" slips back smoothly, and the Pillion rider jumps on the front and take control of the bike. In a flash the Helmet also changed heads. The new "Rider" passed the Breathalyser test away they went.

Since it was evident that the "Rider" was drunk. He should have allowed the pillion rider to take control of the vehicle in the first place. Knowing the risk he is taking, it was irresponsible behaviour.

in my dictionary a true rider never uses anything that affects his conscious mind in any way at any time.no drinks,no smoke, nothing like that.I NEVER USE and I WONT UNTIL IM A TRUE RIDER.
I'm a responsible rider. It doesn't matter what you ride, but what matters is how you ride.

Well my mother gave me a choice : either give up alcohol or give up biking.

needless to say I choose biking....it's all the addiction I need
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.
