Does anyone use pass light to warn Jay walkers on road ??
Well I do ... and works better than honking a horn . The drill I follow is slow down to comfortable speeds i.e just in case the pedestrian is not in mood to let me go first, flash the light and they just think twice before running across to the other side of the road. .
And use of pass light on roads where horns are prohibited is a nice idea. I understand its difficult for car drivers to notice riders behind them. Considering the fact most of the car drivers have got much lesser experience of driving(may be 10 hrs at wheel in the driving class ) and an 'L' on car's rear is the most dreaded sight on road .....
220's pass light works wonders everytime.

Friends one of the interesting Threads I came across.

        Thanks to the THREAD STARTER.

Read all the posts and felt everyone is correct in Indian context.
Definitely the usage pattern varies from place to place and circumstances.

Moot point PASS LIGHT FLASH = BEWARE from both sides.

Apart from the above said circumstances i use the flash while approaching a corner,to let the oncoming traffic,if any to know someone is closing in from opp dir.
U'll be able to know an oncoming vehicle in low beam earlier than in high beam. But in winding sections high beam gives u better view of road in front. But u should use it in right balance for good results. This periodic flashing is applicable only for winding sections, not for highways and it did save me couple of times.

+1 : I do that regularly. My neighborhood has lot's of turns and with residential buildings obstructing the view of the other side. A headlight flash is a boon in such places.

Apart from this i regularly use a single flash if i wish to overtake a slow vehicle.

Interesting & knowledgeble thread this is.

I use flash light for following reasons

                1) To let know the opposite side driver/rider that i am overtaking.

                2) To let know the opposite side driver/rider that your are completely in my lane & i have no space.

                3) To let know the driver/rider in front of me give me a space i want to overtake you.

                4) To let know the opposite side driver/rider that your headlight is disturbing me , use dipper.

                5) To get a clear view of road which i am not getting through dipper.

                6) At night in city to see the face of beautiful G**L If dipper is not helping

But sometime the pass light won't help you when Bus or Taxi on the opposite side . They are alway's in hurry & blind .

Shocking thing in thread i noticed that there is opposite meaning of flashing light in US & other foreign countries , it means you can go, i am in no hurry

We are complete opposite to them with driving/riding on left side of road while they are on right side , We have Right hand drive , while they have left hand , We use flash to indicate i am in hurry while they indicate no hurry .
