It was in mid march that after buying 4 Bloody Kg's of Potatoes. Me and my brother decided not to fight but get a brand new bike.
Off lately as everyone would know that my Bullet had been giving me problems. After changing 9 pistons in the bullet in around 3 years I was all set to chuck the bullet away and buy a LUNA. But then again the LUNA is no good for my way of biking. I wanted to give myself a last chance to after persuading KAKA jee (My Bullet mechanic) we redid the engine of the bullet which now is a mix and match from a AVL and a CI engine. (This is a different story though). After the rebuild of the engine the bike was running fine but again I was not ready to face another breakdown.
And though the recession was at the end but it was still showing on my pocket. I really did not want to put even a single penny in to the repairs of the bullet. So I asked my brother if I can take the CBZ for some time. But that let to small argument that made us buy 4 Kgs of Potatoes.
We decided out of ZMA and P220S we are going to settle for the P220S. In this a mass SMS sent out to biker friends helped. Now the question is what color Black or black.
I never liked the full black pulsars. They kinds look Devilish to me but that’s fine I would go for one because my loved ones liked it that way. And I was not much into the color of the bike more into the practicality when compared to the bullet.
I had planned to buy the bike the next week after the 14th march. But then things held me and I was so busy that I was unable to get the bike.
Then came the second week of April. Had to go home for some tasks. Though that I can get the bike this week. Called up some BAJAJ Dealers around my home town Bathinda to find if they stock the Pulsar 220 S. no one did but there were some at LUDHIANA. So booked one of the black ones.
On the 9th early morning took the bus to Ludhiana, my friend VJ picked me up and we went to the Bajaj PB in Ludhiana. I learnt that I was the first customer on the Bajaj PB in Ludhiana. And then I learnt that the Black bike was sold and all that they had in stock was a blue one. Once I thought to myself that I can’t go for a blue rather just buy a 220F but then I noticed there was this RED bike parked in the showroom on display. I was like this is what I will take.
The bike was ready in 20 Minutes. The PDI was already done they just washed the bike, checked the Battery and other small things. The billing took around 30 Minutes.
I was free by 11:00 Am from the showroom it took me around 1 hour and 30 minutes to get the bike. and then me and VJ went to a petrol pump got petrol worth 300 RS which came out to 5.4 L. I had to come all the way from Ludhiana to New Delhi that was around 325 Kms. so I started riding at around 11:30 and was in Delhi at around 7:00 PM. the ride was nice I was not tired and that was the best thing. I rode the bike at around 4k - 5k RPM. I know some of you would think that the for the running it was not good. But I had already done around 250 KM on 4K rpm that was 64KMPH. And I was bored to death. And I also had to be in the office at night.

In the volcanic ash and my clients getting stuck in Delhi and other assignments getting cancelled, I missed out on this very important event. And finally, Congrats DD. Even though I can barely imagine you sitting on a Pulsar, but here you are, as regal as ever, on a bright red one, riding along the highway of life and taking things as they come. Very interesting indeed.
Congrats again and Ride Safe! The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

hey desideep firstly congrats on the pulsar 220 S version. reading your story i have several questions raised in my mind.
Firstly, bullet is told to be one of the best bike built for indian roads and has a good upright sitting position without giving any back problems while pulsar is more on the sporty side and even the sitting position would not be as comfortable as the bullet.
Secondly bullet is not a high end bike when it comes to fast accelaration where pulsar is way quick in acceleration.
Thirdly dint you felt the braking, the gear system is opposite with pulsars, so how you got adjusted with that all things.
And some say bullet is one bloody reliable bike wanna know hows your feeling with the reliabilty in pulsars?
last but not the least do you feel the thump of bullet is missing in pulsar.

Thanks a Lot Ken, i know you cant imagine me on a pulsar i think the only time that you may have seen me on a pulsar was back in 2006 in a G2G when i came on a brand new pulsar 180 and then i still remember when you asked me if i would like to try out your Naked Pulsar. But yes life is good with the Pulsar.Originally posted by ken cool View PostIn the volcanic ash and my clients getting stuck in Delhi and other assignments getting cancelled, I missed out on this very important event. I am sure you are mistaken Bullet is not one of the best bike, its just a Myth. on the back problem thing it totaly depends what you are used to,
Secondly bullet is not a high end bike when it comes to fast accelaration where pulsar is way quick in acceleration.
Thats very true
Thirdly dint you felt the braking, the gear system is opposite with pulsars, so how you got adjusted with that all things.
No i did not feel any of that cause i am very much used to ride any kinda bike (in terms of gear shifts and brakes) till near past i was riding my Yamaha rx in addition to the bullet and never felt to difference.
And some say bullet is one bloody reliable bike wanna know hows your feeling with the reliabilty in pulsars?
One who said that bullet is a reliable bike must be joking hehehe. and after you have owned a bullet beleive it or not even a Shiiity Rusian bike would feel more reliable. and talking about Pulsars they are nice very nice very very nice when it comes to reliability
last but not the least do you feel the thump of bullet is missing in pulsar.
I donot miss it i have a reason to it cause i still ride my bullet. hehehe and then i am getting used to the Exaust note of the Pulsar which is always felt was so muted. but it actually sounds good.
To be true with you there is a feeling when you act a fool. and i love that i am sure you understand what i mean.Originally posted by Aryan View Post@DD: Congrats for getting the 'S', and moving on into more contemporary motorcycles, if you know what I mean!
I hope you did the run-in properly, because from what I hear people don't really care for 'run-in' these days!
i have been riding the bike carefully and some times fast aswell..
thanks once again|NO WHEELS|

I'm guessing the seat height of the "S" is same as the "F" which is a bit lower than the rest of the Pulsars (that's what I felt!!). The only thing which I would have wished in the "S" is the same low handle bars as in the P200!!
Congrats DD.... fine machine

I think that the height of the pulsar 220 is high when compared to the others (180,150) and i really dont have experience with the "low" handle bars of the 200 and i am just loving the ones that i have.|NO WHEELS|

Enfield owner...with YAMAHA forks on avatar.... acquanting himself with 220 S, without knowing this one doesn't have a kick until completed those 325kms. Interesting.
Welcome to the club!
But seems somebody gonna loose the job. I just hope that the Beer king Vijay Mallya shows up here and chucks Atul Kasbekar out after having a glance at those sexy pics (referring to your bike's
) which surely will run a chill down his spine. We will be so proud of the biker prodigy turned ACE photographer shooting those Kingfisher calander girls.
