  • knocking in bikes at high speeds!!

have you ever noticed any knocking in your bike during a drag?? at high rpm the r15 was knocking after shifting from 3 to 4 gear??? why did that happen?
strange but true that this happened in the R15!!!! never thought this would happen in this bike at 9500 rpm since its a high rpm bike!!!!

any such experiences in your biking????

does this happen due to the fuel injection in the bike?? i have heard that this bike has a closed loop system to control the fuel and air supply according to need!!! is it having a problem due to the less flow of fuel or something like that???

Thats the rev limiter cutting in, not the engine knocking. it starts from 9800 rpm till 9950-10,000 rpm.

ive noticed it in high performance machines..the compression ratio is very high. and when adulterated or fuel that needs low compression to burn,is used, it knocks.. in short all i can say is u may be using slightly adulterated fuel. are u facing this prob at high speeds or high rpms?

when at high rpms fuel should have the capability to burn up almost instantaneously...if it doesnt the engine knocks.

And just for info's sake, the R15 does not run a closed loop system. Its an open loop system.

The knock might have been because of poor fuel, although even I think its more likely you banged into the limiter before shifting up, and mistook it for a knock.
              You get the point?? :D

i have been using normal fuel for the bike!! never used speed or power!!! may be its of the bad quality!!
and sorry for the closed loop system thing!!!

A revv. limiter prevents the RPM from going over a limit, which is defined for it. You can say that it cut's-off engine after a particular RPM(setted by manufacturer) is reached.

dude no issues with using normal fuel (as long as it doesn't smell kerosene) in R15.The engines released here have gone rigorus testings and all prior to release and can run on ordinary 87 octane fuel. It'll be the same for some extent of ENGINE modifications.U need high octane only if u have played with comp.ratios to serious levels.

Dude.. I dont think thats right.. R15 compression ratio is 10:4 and any engine above 10:1 needs a premium fuel (not high octane 97 but Octane 91 would suffice). The engine is desgined to use premium fuel. Compression ratio of 9:1 (Most of the Indian bikes) are desgined for regular fuel (87 octane).
