  • Disc Brake Heating too much.

Hey guys im having a classic CBZ 30k clocked all stock no mods yet.
I recently changed the disc pads branded 'ASK' Rs110/- from a local mechanic. He told me that my calipers are screwed and swapped them from a pulsar!! So now im running on pulsar calipers. If i ride around 1km or so the disc plate gets too hot i mean i cant evn touch it its dat hot(if i spit on the plate spit evaporates).
And i also feel brakin power has been reduced and the bike struggles to go forward.Guys/techs plz suggest wat shud i do??

Regarding calipers im not gettin the japanese ones for classic cbz costing Rs120/- each. I went to HH authorised showroom they told me they use locally HH manufactured calipers costing Rs10/- each for classic without any problems.Guys plz suggest and plz point out why is the disc heating so much.thnx

buddy, solution to your problem is simple, your local mechanic has installed pulsar's caliper Right? which is not advisable and caliper must be too much tight because of which disc has got stuck in caliper(not moving freely).
try to get HH's(classic_CBZ) caliper only. once you loosen/adjust your caliper
it will work fine. and yes disc is getting HOT because of it's dragging against disc pads. and HH manufactured calipers costs just RS10/- ????? i don't think so.
better go for good and branded caliper and pad because it's safe..

so do wat the HH guys are telling u... the locally assembled one.. becuse the disc pads may not give u issues ..i guess many karizma guys have tried that discpad..but calliper from a differnet bike is definitely the culprit

The same problem occurred for my friend's FZ...

the answer is simple every bikes disc heats up... that's the solution we found out checking many bikes. almost every bikes disc heats up when the application of disc is high... i don't know you are convinced with my solution but it's true, you can check on other bikes too...

I too did something like this and believe me, am not happy. I swapped my Karizma's calipres with that of Unicorn initially and currently am runnig on Nissins. I guess, each calipre is desiged in accordance to the brake disc and the mounts. The poor braking has been a concern with my karizma's brakes too, and am looking forward to buying the original Calipres from HH only

Need some clarification on this, what are we talking about, how can the calipres be so cheap? 10 Rs.??

Same as above, what are we talking about. A hero Honda Calipre should cost few thousands atleast.

But if a calipre set is available at 10Rs, then I dont mind buting 100 calipers.

                All Cheers

yup dude m just tokin about calipers not the master cylinder kit which costs Rs1150/-. The calipers just 2 small rubber like bushes 1big n other 1 small Costs Rs13.50/- and Rs10/- from genuine authorised HH showroom i purchased.Ive done my caliper job now lot of dirt was accumulated inside the so called piston surface. So got them cleaned too.Now the disc is not heating as it used to b4.Braking is not that effective cuz my mech told me that since he's removed the piston, air myt have occupied sum space so it will time for effective braking. All the strange kinda noises i used to encounter now r vanished.Wheel is lot more free than before.Just worried y arent the japanese made calipers not available

the whole silver thing that sits on your disk is the caliper

then i realised u r talking abt something else

The callipers are the entire wheel side braking set-up and those rubbers are the oil seals for the calliper side Piston.

Lets come to the talk first of all check rotating your front wheel with the bike on stand rotate and engage the brake you will feel the contact with the disk and the pads.

It is damn easy process to release air in the tube. just what my mechanic does is " he will just loosen the nut in the calliper and start pumping the front brake lever, we can see the air and oil mixture releasing and then at a stage only oil will be coming out, then the air release nut is tightened and the oil reservoir is topped"

Better take the bike to some other mech... Car mechs are experts in such works.
