  • Karizma Timing Chain TENSIONER replacement

    Hi all,
The timing chain tensioner on my 2005, ZMA looks like its gone KAPUT.
Its making all wierd noises now. I met a RANDOM mechanic here in Coimbatore and he suggested that instead of fitting the ZMA's timing chain tensioner (which wud cost 2000/-) we could fit the UNICORN's tensioner (which wud cost ~400/-).
He says its a direct fit. Is this true? Has anyone tried it?
    Please do suggest.

@Mods: Please move this to the ZMA thread if this is unnecessary. But usually I dont get replies for any of my queries. They get drowned in the flow of other topics.

AFAIK, you can get, not the original one for as less as for Rs. 150 only..

Not only at cold starts, I get the sound at any given point of time the bike is running but at 1000-1300RPM only.

1 of my mechanic also told Unicorn's will fit ZMA. He is specialist in Unicorn, and often does work for ZMA's for known people.

I faced the same concern some time back. And my mechanic suggested me to fit a HH Passion timing chain tensioner. Have been riding the bike ever since then with absolutely no hiccups. Guess it was far less priced then the Karizma one, but would suggest to double check it before buying one.

            All Cheers

I dont have idea about the brand though.. Will check with my mechanic.. just had put it few days back..!! I use to get the knocking sound while in cold but usually it increases with time, if not replaced. If the mech is suggesting uni's cam tensioner,.. it should work I guess.. Still ensure..!!

Oh thanks a lot guys, this is so much of info.
I will try asking the HH guys and probably compare both the UNI's and ZMa's tensioner and see.

Dude, I would be really greatful if you could find out from him ASAP and lemme know. Because I am right now in Coimbatore and leave alone mechanics, I hardly know 1 or 2 people.

Just spoke with my mech.. He strongly suggested Pulsar 180s original tensioner.. its 185 bucks here..
He had tried other ones, but this was the perfect which he could get fitted.. I recently have the same..! But get the p180 original tensioner only..
