  • Tappet Noise in Dazzler

    Hi Friends,

I have bought a CB unicorn Dazzler. The vehicle is smooth with no problems except engine tappet noise. From the day one, i am hearing the tappet noise when the engine gets heated up. But it does not affect the performance or the mileage of the vehicle. Why the noise is coming and whether it affects the life of the vehicle? My friends said that in new bikes such noise will come and it will fade away after 2000 kms. But i am afraid whethet it will affect the performance of the bike. I have driven my vehicle 700 kms. Please provide me with a solution.

Your friend is right but it won't fade away on its own but in upcoming services they are bound to adjust the valve clearance i.e. tappet. Chill nothing to worry.

It will not affect engine's life. Report the issue at first service, they will adjust the tappets.

BTW, are you sure that is tappet noise?

Is this the quality Honda fans talk about? hehe.... no offence! Get the problem rectified ASAP. Do not wait for the first service as the running IN is a crucial process for an engine and the conditions should be maintained at the optimum during this process. Go to the service centre, tell them what the problem is and get it rectifier then and there. If they ask you to wait till the first service, insist on getting it done right away. By the way are you 100% sure that the noise is from the tappets?

What has regular maintainence got to do with quality?

If this is a tappet noise, it might have occurred earlier due to someone incorrectly riding the Motorcycle(showroom staff/OP/OP's friend/s)

To my knowledge all the new vehicles will need a valve clearance check in first service. The tappets will be marginally set lose when its delivered. Not Honda alone, but all bikes.

                Hi Ravi,

I am sure it is tapping noise. Other than that the bike is fine.
