Man...Now that I've fixed K&N, how to find a proper jet size?? And how much do R15 Sprockets cost?? What will happen if i upgrade to it?? Please elaborate.. Also, what is full racing exhaust??

K&N works on stock exhaust too. but when coupled with a free flow exhaust, your bike can run better.

See, when a company launches a bike they have to confirm to a number of norms set up by the RTO. These norms include emission, safety and noise pollution norms. So companies design the exhaust in such a way that it restricts the flow of gases and makes very less noise. These restrictions in the flow of the exhaust gases causes a drop in performance. But the company guys have to do it so as to meet the emission and the noise norms. A free flow exhaust has very less restrictions to the flow of the exhaust gases. This makes them quite noisy than the stock ones. But a free flow exhaust can change your engine's performance drastically. Gases escape faster so bike revs up faster and harder. And no they are not banned in India. Although too noisy exhaust systems are sure to grab some attention from the Cops in a bad sense.

all the free flow exhausts available in the market does not increase the power output..... you need to talk to joel a member of xbhp who knows how to tune a free flow exhaust....
one query: which model of K&N can be used for fz?? what is the cost of it and will it work withouth upjetting and if required what is the cost of upjetting??

The mechanic said there is no difference between RC-1060 and R-1060, only some cosmetic changes ! He quoted, 1600 for RC and 1300 for R ! I dint ask about upjetting though !

                      kn is a waste

i got my bike in feb 2010...been having pleasure on it for 17k kms.i have used kn filter. used it for about 6k kms. trust me since then i have just been going to mechanic to get my bike repaired after every few days. one big problem overheat tried jetting everything... mileage dropped performance dropped. one fine day came..i saw white smoke coming from exhaust. piston rings gone for six in just 5k kms using kn.i used kn for another 1000 kms and i have removed it. then i went to a mechanic in chandigarh he helped me out finally with what i wanted. he installed bigger sprockets at rear. he didnt have smaller for front told me to call after 10 days and installed ngk ix sparkplug installed stock filter but i cut the top of the black cover so now i get much better pickup.i told him to tune for 0 to 80 its 1000times better then kn...i get the sound like before tho not tht more rore but still far better then the stock sound. throttle response is mind blowing. my friends love to do wheelie on my bike they say after bigger rear sprocket this bike can go power wheelie on 2nd gear as well...iam not in stunting so dnt know what it means. what i know it i wasted 1700 for kn 1350 for piston rings repair so much on small repairs and i got much better then all this for 550 ngk ix sparkplug and 600 sprocketing. correct me if iam wrong

                        comments on k&n

i have used k&n on my cbzx...u need to find the right air screw adjustment..otherwise it will screw the mileage and the bike will get heated up quickly..i had these problems on my cbzx when i used k&n for the first time...i did a highway run..speed of 97 in 4th gear..when i shifted to 5th the speed is only 101. then i found the right air screw adjustments...there is no real increase in top speeds...these are the speeds after redlining at 9500 rpm in each gear...
                        K&n stock
                        31 24-1st gear
                        55 48-2nd gear
                        80 76-3rd gear
                        100 93-4th gear
                        122 117-5th gear

the only difference is the time taken to reach 80 to 100 is increased..u need to find the right air screw adjustment if u are going to fit k&n..the fe is low even after finiding the right screw adjustment...
i suggest get ur bike modded by joel..surely it will be high speed machine..don't go for k&n...my suggestion..
just by installing a k&n ...u can't expect increase in top speed...try a bigger bore size and piston..head works...exhaust..camshaft mods..surely there will be a increase in speed...joel has got the big bore kit for fz and r15...
                        factors affecting top speed:
                        1. lot of fuel in tank increase the bike weight.
                        2. weight of the rider..90 kg rider on a stock r15 was just able to reach 131 on speedo and 65 kg rider touched 143...tested..
                        3. tyre pressure
                        4. gear shifts.
                        5. individual capablity...
                        CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG

Well I don't have good tech knowledge but let me put it in a simple way.....

Air and fuel mixture is defined by air filter and jet within carburetor. With K&N, you allow more air in the mixture thus improving mileage. But improper mixture may end up damaging the engine. With proper upjeting, you again allow correct mixture to enter in the combustion chamber.

Now during exhaust stroke, exhaust valves get opened and gases are released. These gases are then passed through stock exhaust designed by manufacturer to adhere government norms of noise and air pollution, but at the same time they are often balanced to deliver performanance. With FFE, you allow gases to release freely. It's like opening the choke or widening the bottleneck.... thus engines feels more free and relaxed.

Now again to handle additional power you need to change sprockets. Stock sprockets are designed to handle power generated by stock engine.

If sprocket are not changed, generated power may not be delivered to rear wheel....causing engine to overheat and damaging stock chain - sprocket assembly as well as engine. With correct secondary gear ratio, appropriate power is delivered to real wheel. Thus air filter + fuel upjeting + change in secondary gear ratio is a real performance upgrade.

Now if you really looking for performance out of your FZ, I would recommend get your FZ Joeled. With 180cc big bore kit, FFE with DB killer, bigger carb is just perfect upgrade with an affordable cost. Joel also offers variety of sprockets depending on your need (more top end or more torque). I additionally recommend installing Daytona body kit (massive front disk) to handle your monster at peak power. I don't know if Joel has similar solution for brakes.

To me Joel Performance parts + Daytona body kit would cost you around 40K. Still it's a worth upgrade. To be very honest, I'm waiting for Fazer250 to arrive, if it doesn't come up next year, I'll get my fazer joeled.
Sometimes it takes tankfull of fuel before you can think wise

                            solution

                            hi dude,

No need to change k&n filter its create problem later in engine and carb.other wise u use replacement airfilter.dnt want to change jet size bcoz we want expansion power more to change afr in internal combustion.it ll run only riche at 12.9 or 13.5 ratio.we want wot at 14.7:1 is tat correct afr.
