    Peculiar problem

    Hi guys

    I have a peculiar problem in my 2001 Classic CBZ from yesterday.

    It all started yesterday when I went for a small ride, the speedometer shows less speed than the actual & also the ODO shows less than actually traveled.

    For Instance @ 5k rpm my bike does 65kmph but on speedo it is showing 40kmph & in the odo for 7.5 kms from my home to office it is showing 5.5 kms.

    what could be the problem ??

      Check the resistance in the speedo worm! Also, may pull out the inner cable and check. Further, if none of the above works, open up the speedo and check if there is any resistance.

      the possible reason why you are getting speedo errors is because the cable perhaps is not spinning as much as desired, and the possible culprit is unwanted friction. Trace it out and re-check. Hopefully it should solve the concern.

          well if the pick up is fine, then the prob is with the speedometer else the clutch plates if the pickup has reduced drastically
          If U haven't Seen GOD, U haven't gone fast enough

            suspecting a worn out speedo cable or worm here. check the underside of the meter where the cable connects as well.

              Even I think so , 80k & 9 yrs is a good long time for the speedo cable to last enough..

                It was a problem with Speedo worm which was broken & I replaced it yesterday
