  • Thunderbird mileage issue

    Hi,
My thunderbird used to give a mileage of 42 t0 44 kmpl before i changed to a goldie exhaust, after which it gor dropped to 36 to 37. I rode the bike for some 700 kms and decided to revert to the stock silencer.
But even after reverting to stock silencer the mileage has remained the same (ie at 37 kmpl 36 at times).
I took the bike to service centre complaining of the same, he checked the
spark plug which was white(ish), so he said there is no problem with the bikes mileage and adjusted the AFM as the bike was jerking while rides like fuel flow was stopped.
All this has been of no use, bike still gives 37 kmpl mileage..
    I came across a thread
    Silencer Modification for Electra 4S - Team-BHP

    Where i read the following

"TRY IT. I have personally checked it with this method. You'll find the same stuff on a hero honda splendor, honda activa and pretty much all the new bikes and scooters. Its a solenoid valve that re-direct gases from the exhaust to the inlet/carb. Since its a solenoid valve it wont affect the engine if you unplug it on a running engine. Unplugging the pipe from the solenoid valve wont kill the engine.

When you unplug the pipe from the solenoid valve (exhaust gas return valve aka exaustec in hero honda), the idling will drop. This should explain that with the same amount of fuel air mixture and added gases diverted from the exhaust, the idling speed increases. Which means the exhaust gases have still got unburnt fuel air mixture that enrich the inlet and increase the engine speed at idling. Now how much fuel do you use in a week? And how much will this simple solenoid valve earn for you?
    "

Could mine be the case as mentioned above??

what is he talking about in the post??

Any kind of help is much appreciated........

    Thanks
