  • My rear tyre is troubling me so much :-(

Last time i.e. A month ago I inflated my tyres.. I rode for 3 kms. & bang.. Tube blasted cos of a 5 inch nail.. 5 punctures = RS 200 (repair of punctures & he put some layer on the rubber)
Damn! again, 1 hour ago, I inflated my tires.. I rode for 1 km... F*ck Tube blasted again, Puncture.. 3 inch Nail
And hey, both the times it happened @ rear tyre (back tyre if rear is not the word)

Now, is this a co-incidence or I'm in trouble ?
BTW, I replaced the tube.. Got a SATYAM's tube for RS. 200, there was no damage to the tire.. i.e. bahar wala rubber part this time(mechanic said that)..

Also, on the type it is written that PSI should be 29 if solo & 32 if with pillion.. I always ride solo but that guy put 31 PSI on the machine while inflating
Okk I don't want anymore kharcha

Get a tubeless tyre and a tubeless tyre puncture repair kit. It's user friendly, its cheap and its fast.

I so wery well understand your frustration. But punctures are something you can't blame the tyre & tube for. If possible, check the pattern where you are getting punctured and avoid that route. I have changed 6 tubes in 7 months in 2008. Each tube costed me Rs 220 to 250 plus replacement charges of Rs 40 + punctures on them before replacing cost Rs 20 each puncture.... that way I could have bought two new tyres for my Victor!!!

When I shifted from that area my punctures also disappeared. That area had a lot of constructions going on and nails on the road was pretty normal. If you have to change your tire then go for a tubeless one from the ZMR. It saves you a lot of pain. Small nails don't matter to iteven if they just stay in. Regular punctures can be done easily. Only problem would be if there are many big punctures you would have to replace the tyre sooner. But, by then it would ave saved you enough money on tubes that can go on for a new tyre. You would at least save on the time wasted and the agony in pushing the punctured bike and getting it done.

          Quite possible though!!!

@chiragwarm - If your locality is good enough, then try changing the route.

            +1 to what everybody said.

I see you ride a GS150 which has mag wheels. Why not switch to Tubeless tyres & save a lot of pain in the punctures. Branded tyres like Veerubber, Duro, IIRC are available & that too in standard size. Do let me know if you need any help on finding these tyres.

hey buddy its not always road or the riding style ! if every one get punture on the road u r riding then we can blame the road. well rough riders are around there but they did't get puncture all time hence its not justifiable, as i m my self a rough rider but didn't get much punctures.
well u r problem is the temparature, look for the tyre temparature, the reasons may vary and u will never notice it but, little change in angle of tyre fitting, or balance in rim ? may be one side more eating of tyre, just examine the tyre fitting and note the temp of tyre. u r not going more than 1 to 3 km. i found no other reason. but we can't help u if u r luck is not strong.

hey brother, i suggest you to go for mrf tube.....do not go for a local tube.. also remember moment the tube gets more than 3 to 4 punctures...there is no sense in repairing it out..its better to replace it directly....

the other option is to go for a tubeless tyre...which is an expensive one

Dude even your riding style matters i feel some tolerance level each bike would have i look at it according to the suspension and engine grunt a nail or something that could passed on at a tolerance level of speed say when your re riding not less than 40 or so (act depends on tyhe bike and tyre size) the chance of the nail making a puncture is less where as when you ride real slow the chance is more even pot holes at some optimum speed your bike will easily float through where as most likely in very slow speeds it may harm your bike dude i m not telling you to ride max speed which is not safe and People spare me if what i am talking is all crap since its all my personal opinion and i m not an expert on machines(meant the bikes) and if you too think it the same way bro give me a hug ....Experts please correct me if i am wrong not interested in carrying on a wrong perception for i m trying to become a good biker in the days to come Ride safe

Also there is a point in buying a tubeless tyre. The air is not lost immediately if it is punctured..... i had a puncture in my bike last week but was happily driving it till yesterday when i got the punctured removed..... yeah but i needed to fill air daily so that i dont land up with a flat tyre

I've got nothing to say rather than feeling sad ... when your unlucky enough to get ur tyre nailed every now and then and spend lumps of money and get screwed again.

Thinking your roads aren't cared much I wonder how other riders out there are surviving in those conditions.

You haven't mentioned about the condition of your tyre coz its plays and important role too..

Its better you go for far good quality tube.

If you are thinking of spending more money get a tubeless one and sure it would bring you a bigger smile.

And finally always get your bike filled in exact PSi by digital air pumps to be precise.
The rising petrol prices burn your pocket not your riding soul!

Take it easy buddy-try to avoid gravel patches which might be nail infested etc.
Punctures are just a matter of luck-my R15 was lucky to have survived more than 2 years without a single puncture&last morning there were 2 punctures-3 nails were fished out!

Thank you everybody.. After reading all replies, I have finally come to a conclusion that MRF/ ZMR Tubeless Tires are worth a buy :-)
But the question here is about the Repair Kit which Pavan mentioned.. So if there is a puncture on the tubeless tire & I have the repair kit with me, can I personally repair it without going to the mechanic & will that repair be temporary & at the end I will have to go to the mechanic ? And what does the repair kit have exactly ?
Finally, how much would they cost me ?

The kit costs about Rs.250-300, and contains two tools-one for removing the nail, one for shoving the sealant strip in, and some 5-6 sealant strips. Sealant strips are separately available also.
Yes, you can use it by yourself, but be careful, learn how to use it&don't do it with a deflated tyre.
Once you learn how to do it perfectly, it will be permanent&won't take more than 5 minutes!
