apache rtr fi prob at higher speeds.

    apache rtr fi prob at higher speeds.

    i have a rtr fi which has done 12.7k kms. the prob that i am facing from the past few days is that the bike struggles to attain speed and pik-up after 60kmph is vastly reduced. today i was with a pillion climbing on a flyover in 5th gear and bike refused 2 go beyond 65kmph and was near 5k rpm.i chcked d spark plug and found it to be completely black. i guess its completely gone now. i changed the spark plug 4-4.5k kms before. is this prob only becoz of spark plug or sumthing else. how are ngk spark plugs???? any advantages over regular spark plug???which ngk plug would be suitable for my bike? airfilter was cleaned just a week ago

      Check the air filter for any clogs. If the spark plug is completely black then you are running rich which maybe because of the clogged air filter. By spark plug being black do u mean just the white just below the nose of the spark plug is also black? Post some pics of the plug and people here can help you better. NGK spark plugs are good. They last longer than Champion or Bosch ones. They cost much more too. NGK iridium spark plugs are known for improving throttle response.

        thanx for the reply pavan.

        The airfilter was cleaned just last week. and by spark plug being black i mean a major part of it being black as if it is burnt. this was a bosch plug.i guess it is causing the probs. whts ur take on this??

            Climbing over a flyover at 65 kmph in top gear with a pillion no Apache will be able to gain speed its not meant for outright torque if you downshift at that point, a gear or two and even then it doesnt pick up properly then you have a problem i say it is fine right now.
            Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.
