    Help with Discover 125 DTSi

    Hello All,

    I have a July 2006 Model Discover 125 DTSi (Black-Blue) which has run 23k Kms. I find the rear tires too skinny. I've seen some other bikes (same model) on the road with broader tires. The current tire sizes are
    Front : 2.75 x 17
    Rear : 3.00 x 17
    Is it possible to fit a broader tire, like the one on the new Discover 135/150 which I think is 100/90 x 17
    Also, please suggest a good battery to be used. The old one has conked off.
    Can I do something about the headlamps to increase the intensity?
    A little bit of google search showed me results where the coil for Avenger were used on a Pulsar to increase the headlamp intensity. If I am correct, the old Pulsar had 35/35W Headlamp. I am not sure if the same can be implemented on my bike.

    My bike is running completely on Stock. Have just changed the rear-view mirrors once since some jackasses broke them off twice when parked outside.

      Yes, you can plonk a broader tyre in the rim, may be at the cost of sacrificing the Chain Cover, see if that is worth.

      May plonk a maintainence free battery by Amaron, would cost you approx. 1000-1200 INR.

      To increase the intensity, try to convert your bike to DC , it hopefully has a AC head lamp.

      No use of plonking a heavier halogen till the time you take care of the current production. An all DC would do the trick for you, post which you can go for HID or for Projectors or even a 60/55W halogen like Osram or Philips.

        Thank you dcs for the update. I will check and get the 100/90 Tire. I checked the Michellin Sirac, but find that it has 120/90 17" Tires. What do these numbers denote? 3.00x17 means that the width of the tire is 3" and the radius is 17". What is the 120/90 Value? Can I go for those TVS Road Sense or the CEAT Tires, or do I stick with MRF Zappers? The current OEM Tires are from Dunlop.

        Is there any specific model from Amaron that I can use?

        I would surely like some assistance with regards to converting to an All DC Setup. I am not too good with the technicalities of things, but yeah, can follow instructions. Appreciate any assistance.

          You can fit in MRF Zapper as in the P135/150. It wont touch the chain guard.
          I had upgraded to 120 section TVS/DUNLOP by sacrificing the handling and the chain guard too.

          Here in bangalore, best battery is EXIDE BIKERZ. There are lot of issues with Amaron and their delaership/After sales service.

          Rewind the coil, and plonk in an 90/100W philips halonix. That is more than sufficient.

            Thanks for the updates VAS. And hey, you've removed the Tire as well as the mud-guard and Number plates... It actually looks good with the Wider Tires.
            A small query if you don't mind.
            How was the handling affected by using the wider tires?

              yeah, have removed the mud gurad, reg plates for few days
              Handling was screwed to large extent. TVS tyres gave no confidence on wet surfaces.
              I suggest you to upgrade to 100/90 x 17. That wud be the ideal upgrade.

                Every BIKE has a lot of speed in it. The trick is getting the speed out of it.

                  So, I can safely go for MRF Zappers.

                  I do not have to change anything else right? like the alloys

                  I might have to remove the tire hugger though.

                    In MRF... go for the zapper Q series....its a great all rounder performance tyre....also you can look at pirelli sport demon...softer compound than MRF...but it is costlier than MRF....

                        Please check the Pics uploaded by VAS, There is only a difference in stickering and an SNS Suspension, rest of the bike is the same.
