  • Help! Rats ate my wiring!

Hi, this weekend while doing some work on my bike, discovered that rats has eaten up through 2 of my wires - one was the side-stand switch wire, other was the ignition coil ground wire. Replaced them both, now I am scared of my bike stopping in the middle of nowhere due to some cut wires.

So, anyone else has faced this same problem? How do I prevent rats from making a buffet meal out of my bike?

Man this is an unusual but very dangerous thing. You are lucky enough that the rat ate jut two wires. Few months back one of my friends found that his bike is not responding. When he disassembled the seat, he found all wiring was grinded inside. Hee needed to change the full wiring harness. All that done by rats. I was just surprised to see that how the rat gets in there? But actually they are so small, they just need a tiny gap to get enter.

So after that I usually keep a Naphthalene which we use to keep inside the lockers/almari to keep away bugs. I think the smell may keep the rats away too.

@Abhijeet080808: Bro do you remember there used to be a steel spring like tube which used to enclose the LPG gas stove rubber hose? The steel hose was present for the same reason. You can use the same steel tube to enclose all the wiring so that it is RAT proof. A car decor shop does it here in my city.

A good idea, but to cover all of the wiring would be cumbersome, IMO.

                  These bloody rats...

Once I was stranded on a highway due to non working of the radiator fan and later found that rats had taken a good portion of the power wire. It really spoiled one of our friends marriage reception.

My music system speakers were F*#&# on the same week.

I've bought 2 mouse traps and tried to take the revenge in my home but they are smarter than me. 2 more rat killer gums bought in and kept in each corner and the next day my son took one of it and tried to paste the whole gum all over the wall, chair, and where not..... Heck, it took another 1 hr to clean it all.

My case was happened when I parked the car in an underground parking for 2 days where not much cars were there. The best thing is to keep the car/bike somewhere always active, human presence or so. So that these creatures will keep away from prying around near the vehicle. U can not keep them away by other means.

FRIENDS IS THERE ANY WAY TO CATCH THESE DIRTY CREATURES DEAD or ALIVE.......... I JUST WANT TO.....
