  • How do I check/fix front brake light switch?

Since the past few weeks, engaging the front brake on my TVS Victor doesn't trigger the rear light. The rear brake engages the light without issues. I was told that the front brake engages the brake as well as a switch that lights up the rear light.

I looked at the front brake at the handle and noticed two wires coming out of the assembly, one going to the brake and the other going to the mess of wires underneath the headlight.

Can someone let me know how this is checked and what needs to be replaced/repaired for this?

    Thanks for the help!

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

There might be two mishaps, one is that your brake light switch worn or the wiring in between has some disconnects.

Mostly only switches are worn, just track the switch wires (going from the brake mount to the rear of head lamp). there will be a covered joints for both the wires, carefully remove the wires from switch in that point and try joining both the wires (the wires that lead into your head lamp) with your ignition ON, if the tail lamp glows then the switch has to be replaced, this can easily be done by yourself. If this not works then it is really a wiring fault just check and update...

I also got an error in my brake light.
Mine rear brake pedal makes it glow continuously even when I release it. But sometimes only.

The brake switch that leads from the end of the brake lever, It is inserted into a duct (in the brake lever mount) and the lever operates it from inside.

Hi, Shubhi, for your rear brake light there will be a small (long) spring connecting the switch and the brake pedal, you can spot it if you can sit near to it and play your pedal. Try to operate the switch alone with your hands and if needed you can even adjust the switch up and down depending on the play of your brake pedal.
