            dude..
going for cans for painting up the tank won't be a good idea..

I've painted my old vega corah helmet with bosny aerosol paint.
i needed 1 can of primer + 2 cans of aerosol paint (black one with silvery dots similar to what you have posted)
it cost me around 350 bucks a can
if you paint a tank, it will require more of them..

for good finishing, we need to give as much as 3-4 coats..

            in my opinion..
it was a waste of efforts in my case to spend soo much on a 900 bucks helmet, which i don't even use..

instead get it spray painted by professionals, will cost way too less and the finishing will also be great...

Got three cans of spray paint...

Spray painting at shops costs Rs.2000. I don't need to spray paint completely.. i just need to paint small parts...

I just need to overcoat my bike.. just 2 or three coats for my bike's exteriors..

Hmm, your bike seriously needs a fresh coat of paint. I mean the colour scheme looks fugly right now, im sorry if im rude that thats what i think. The KB is all about muscle and the paint scheme right now does not do justice. I too had a KB100 some years back which i had painted myself, though i was a beginner at that time, the satisfaction u get doing a DIY is priceless, unfortunately i lost the pics to the server crash.

Some suggestions i would like to give u.
I personally like the red/white/blue/ along with matte black. You could go in for the white black combo on the RTR or the Blue black combo on the P220. Either of these 2 would look swell. Paint the tank/front mudguard/fairing in one colour and the siide panels dull black. This combo really suits the KB.

                    What u need.
1> 400/800/1000 grit sand paper (waterproof).
2> 1 can primer depending on the amount of pieces u want to paint. Rs210 for Bosny grey primer.
3> 2 cans of aerosol spray in the colour of your choice. If your going in for bright colours like candy blue, red, yellow etc its better to give a white base coat. Gives good depth to the colour.
4> 2 cans of clear gloss laquer. Bosny has 2 types of clears glossy and matte finish. I prefer the glossy one.
5> Soap water with a scotch brite pad , a small one would do as its just to scuff the pannels before priming it.
6> Additionally u could invest in latex gloves in order to keep your hands paint free.

Another word of caution. There are many chinese spray cans available in the maket. have used most brands. I would recommend Parlux, as its pretty good at that cost. Steer clear of other brands like F1, Kobe etc as they tend to fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight.Parlux is available at 130 bux/can (400ml) here in mumbai. Good luck! PM me if u have any further queries

@spidy: Thats a nice ride you have there, looks well maintained. Coming to the point, as u said you want to paint the engine, i would recommend Bosny High heat resistant paint which costs something around 280-300 bux. It sounds simple but you'll have to do a lot of prep work before spraying. First thing id recommend is u open the chain cover, the sproket case and have the bike washed thoroughly. Next invest in a wire brush and clean the engine block/head etc to remove any loose paint, next get a waterproof sandpaper NO.400 should do and start scraping down the engine.Make it as smooth as u can, then wash the engine with water and let it dry. For a more professional result id recommed Bosny Primer (grey). Primer it and wait for an hour atleast..then black it out with dull black paint. And since your at it, why not paint the fork bottoms, chain cover etc to complete the look. Will look chick IMHO. That does it for the black. Coming to the body, if budget permits get a clear lacquer can and laquer all the body panels. For lacquering scrape all the body panels with 1000no waterproof paper, get all dirt and grime of it, allow to dry and the apply the laquer on all panels. I have done this on a Bajaj Sunny and boy was i impressed with the outcome.

@ripper....thanx a lot for your step by step instructions...will the procedure remain same if i paint the engine metallic silver instead of dull black..or do i have to use another primer instead of the grey primer u suggested.......thanx again..
