@pk28.karthik - the mech says the carb is f9

@Thunder - ive got your point that older pulsars give lesser mileage....but there is a thread on mileage of classic 150's in the desi bikes section...and almost every claim is above 50 some even 65 n 70..so a v1 with dtsi should give similar if not more mileage rite?....ive had my friends p200 for a week and it also gave me similar figures like my 150 along with a lot better proformance...so i still think the mileage my v1 is giving is unjustfied..

@Vistaboy - well there is no smoke from my exaust, pretty sure.and the proformance is still good...dont think it could be a piston problem

@hitanshu - pipe isint cracked but there is a strange oil deposit under the pipe that connects the carb and the head..

am aiming to least get a mileage of 40kmpl

check for the clutch plates and clutch arrangement... and are u a clutch rider?
i mean if we use more clutch the petrol used will be more(correct me if i am wrong) so the mileage drops...
and strange but check the tyre pressure... more friction means more fuel( not too much but still takes out a bit) used..
and normally showroom people does this mileage test.. try that out once...

and take the bike out of city on a highway and test the mileage on the highway...if there is a lot of difference then let me know...
Bikes don't spill oil, they mark their territory.

Dont know howz ur p150 v1 is giving 30,,dude i ride 180 v1 its close to 6 yrs old,,has done close to 40k kms ,,and still returns me 38-42 under normal commuting,,

The older pulsars were more of an experimental model is what i thinks,,both 150 n 180 had problems which u have to live with,,
As far as mileage goes,,if ur bike has clocked above 30,000,,,get an engine job done from a good mechanic,,old pulsars usually dont have a good engine its something u have to live with..

Boring is another solution but its THE last measure u can probably get done i.e if you wana spend a lots of cash on an old bike,

Aryan would be the right guy for old pulsar v1 query,,,his 180 has clocked over 1lac kms,,so i think he would know it better

@pk28.karthik - yes could be!..didnt check my air pressure in weeks...n will let you know the highway mileage..maybe this weekend...

@edferns - i was thinking more of upgrading to a bull since it would guzzel the same amount of fuel my sipper turned guzzeler 150 does

@Harmeet - the mileage your 180 is giving is gr8..has it been rebored??..n yeah older ones had ther flaws but thats the charm rite!!

How much would it cost to get a rebore(assuming i rebore for proformance)...will i need a bigger carb or jets

@richard: rather than reboring ,if it is completely necessary then go for a cylinder+piston kit(if available).
                  Get GNU/Linux

U'll never regret it Bro. Go for the TSTB its worth the price... Good mileage too.

what does the if avaiable in brackets mean
is it hard to get a kit for my v1??
and if i do get a kit how much would it cost?

if you do go for TBTS, well & good, but don;t think about 75+, not because of the engine, but because of vibrations ...

and yes, a TV review says that the vibrations would still be there ...

My sympathies for you dude ... Strange, coz even my P180 UG3 gives about 40-45 something ...

my classic 180 has been giving me 45 kmpl and the bike is not in top condition either. so i guess a 150 v1 has to give something above 50. Take it to a good mechanic

I hope you will get the cylinder barrel+piston kit.If you know a bajaj dealer close to you -try to get the kit from bajaj pune factory.

people with yam rx100 used to get such spares from company itself(this is sometime back!).and TVS *sure* gives such spares from their Hosa-oor factory.
So why NOT bajaj too?they can help you.

mileage has dropped even more now..i got only 20kmpl today...and she's giving fuel overflow problem's with degraded proformance and a noisy engine( on another thread too)...can this in any way be related?? to the higher consumption??
