      congrats for the new yammie

Regarding petrol stealing, it can't be done on R 15 b'coz it's a fuel injected bike. One has to open tank lid to steal petrol from it

Regarding theft - Better watch out urself.Never ever go for Sensors and security systems. They will drain out ur battery and u will face he push start situation.

For maintaining it shiny - go for teflon coating by Yamaha Authorized Centre at the time of delivery.Be clear in inspecting ur bike and if possible eat delivery person's mind.

Don't let them deliver bike to ur home.Drive it by urself and after a month or so polish it through MI or Formula 1 genuine polish ever alternative Sunday

Ride Safe and Drive Responsibly and follow all running in conditions clearly, b'coz r 15's engine is all the specialty it contain and if u dunno want to ruin it.Ride it acc. to svc manual

Congrats buddy for your new bike...
Dude nothing as such has to be done for the bike. Just read the service manual and follow it strictly, hence your bike will not have problems..
Regarding the polish, teflon is enough twice a year from the Authorized dealers only. Please man, follow the running-in rule for the bike because its your baby, treat her like a Queen.

+1 to Prakhar. Get your bike yourself from the showroom and don't let any one deliver it for you. Do have quick check up of the bike before you take it out of the showroom

Don't go for any Central Locking alarm system, I've had worst of experience with it.. It drains the battery and then you have to push start the bike.. I disconnected it today from my bike...

1>maintaining the shine of the bike
Do's:M1 Car polish and a thorough wash every week would suffice.
Also, invest in a tank pad if you dont want your belt/chain of you jacket to leave scratches on your bike's tank.

Don't: Although teflon coating is recommended by many, but I won't say that it's necessary for maintaining the shine of the vehicle. Although My friend did not have a very pleasing experience with teflon on his FZ, hence I wouldn't vouch for it.

            2>Safety
Do's: Disc locks are fine. Try go park your ride in well lit places. Keep her inside the boundaries of your house at night (verandah/garage). You can try a sturdy chain + lock combo and chain her upto something that wont budge easily.

Don't: Don't leave the key on your bike when you park it :P
Seriously speaking, Don't go for any after market central locking alarm systems, they are more show than go. A person who is looking to steal your bike WILL know which wires to cut in order to disable those alarms. Add to that the nuisance of battery drainage and as you probably know if you do any modifications to the wiring, your warranty will be void. Since this is a machine heavily relying on sensors and stuff, you really dont want a void warranty.

            3>any general suggestions
Do's: Follow the running in as said in the manual. 5k rpm gives you 75km/hr in the 6th gear. Do not let the need for speed sink in at the start if you want to be smiling when your bike touches 1lakh kms on it's stock bore

Don't: Don't get tempted in upsizing the stock rear tire. Also, stay as far away from after market electrical modifications as possible.

4>things that i need to check before getting the bike out of the show room
Check if there are any scratch marks on the plastics.
Check if coolant if filled uptill the brim of the reservoir.
Check the engine no. and the chassis no. is the same on the bike as on the slip that they give at the time of delivery (I think it's called the gate passing/clearance slip). Also, check if the engine no. and chassis no. are the same on the insurance cover-note.
Check if all the switches are working (indicators, hi-beam/low-beam, horn, engine kill)

Click some picks and post them up. Let us see the beauty too

Happy R15'ing, and Congrats for the bike.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

R15 uses yamalube which is a semi-synthetic oil. Now these oils are good but not for the run-in period of the bike.. Take my advice, take the delivery from the showroom and change the oil to a purely mineral one like power 1 or motul mineral. This way, your bike will have a great run in and you can switch back to yamalube after the run-in.

---get a good wash n wax solution from reputed companies like Meguiars, turtle wax or armorall. Available at most shops which stock imported products. Follow instructions on the package. Use a wax polish from the above mentioned companies at least once every month to retain a protective layer on the paint.

2.> I am from Bombay and have noticed that there has been a lot of thefts occurring in my area ......which includes petrol been stolen, bike logo's recently few days back a bajaj platina got stolen so im just worried that is it possible for some1 to easily damage or steal the R 15 what extra precautions should one take???learned abt the XENA disc locks that are available...can any one of u experienced riders tell me about it? where do i get it and how can i set it up??

----- i have the xena XX6 lock which is very handy and is complete peace of mind. You can buy something similar or get a bullet lock from xena where you can lock one of the wheels to a pole or something. see this : XUL340

search for pre delivery instructions on this forum. ensure the chain is well lubed and clean before every ride.

                      AFAIK , power 1 is also semi-synth.

Thanks for the correction. Yes, power1 is also part synthetic. So go for a purely mineral oil.

Not sure Formula 1 is a good idea... I was shopping for it today and didn't buy it because it says its not suitable for plastic or matte surfaces. Although I guess R15 is metal so it should be ok... I have a fazer so I didn't buy it.
