i have read that the top end according to vbox is only 118 for fz..anything above is speedo error...acc to the above mentioned physical parameters (of mine) my 220 does only 143kmph on speedo so it must be 130 or 133kmphOriginally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostHAHAHA...with all these parameters in mind, the performance figures are justified.

Hey All,
thanks for your feedback... i got my bike yesterday but the registration no. is coming today thanks to the Ganpati celebrations all across Mumbai. The RTO Office suddenly decides to shut their office the day i was supposed to get my registration no. frekkin ^%$#$%&*.
The Headlight is beaming upwards even on low beam so will get it fixed today or tomorrow. I have checked all electricals, any scratches, oil leakage, front & rear tyre, brakes, all the papers etc.. before taking the delivery and all are fine and in order.
The Guy at the showroom insisted on maintaining the engine rpm below 4.5k and the front tyre should be 28PSI and rear 33PSI. he also said that from yamaha i will get 2 years warranty on the engine only. Yamaha doesnot provide warranty for the electricals.. is that true?
To be honest, i was expecting the gearbox to miss gears when shifting downwards which normally happens with HERO HONDA and Bajaj during the run in period.. but to my surprise its butter smooth... SUPER SLICK!!. by the time i went home, all my friends were waiting impatiently to take their turns for a test ride.
i will post the details on my bike as soon as i start clocking miles. Already done 75kms on day 1... so i guess i can expect my 1st service in about 20 days
Thanks a ton guys!! XBHPIANS are really helpful.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

No Motorcycle in India provides warranty on Engine alone, electricals are included. Ask him to show where it is written.
Congratulations

Ive fallen into pretty bad pot holes several times at even 60-70 kmph.
Over 10k kms on my ODO,a lot of touring and i haven't got any of my rims bent.
and i have ONLY 1 puncture to date (including both the tires).
that said, ive always maintained a correct tire pressure.i only set the pressure on a cold tire to be more accurate.
*touchwood*
my best is 127 on speedo/119 on GPS.and it does accelerate upto 110 easily, for a 14bhp!Originally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostBTW...the mad rippers here at Pune, our very own twitter boy a.k.a Ankit and Baal ki Dukan a.k.a Rishabh have been found clocking between 110-115 on their FZs time and again.Last edited by RanjithMN; 12-18-2010, 05:01 PM.Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

i was just wondering if using another tyre than the stock one help with regards to the rim bending/damaging issue? would there be better damping given the higher side wall of say one of those mrf 140/80-r17 or 140/90-r17 tyres (cant remember the exact specs right now) or another tyre from michelin or something?
has any one done this before?
the reason i am asking is because my cousin wants to pick either a hunk or this bike, he is not convinced with the rtr, and this rim bending has been his only ruling out point so far.
so if any of you has any pointers, data, or experience on the matter please share asap, he is booking the bike on friday. thanks guys.
P.S.frankly i wouldnt want him to buy the age old hh, or honda, or a suzuki bike, it took me a lot of time for me to convince him to get to select between fz, or rtr(dint like the rtr for it was too fast for him or something) and he finally said okay to fz. for him its say about 20kms of commute daily in hyd city and may be occasional 40-50kms commute once or twice a month thats that.
help asap plz!

I am in the same dilemma. I had booked dazzler because i wasn't convinced about the low-profile Fz tyre, its mileage, and pillion seat.Originally posted by rider60 View Posti was just wondering if using another tyre than the stock one help with regards to the rim bending/damaging issue? would there be better damping given the higher side wall of say one of those mrf 140/80-r17 or 140/90-r17 tyres (cant remember the exact specs right now) or another tyre from michelin or something?

But then, honda waiting period is really long, they say dazzler production has stopped currently and next batch will only come in 2012. Honda is currently manufacturing Activa and Twister which are its top-selling models. After Activa, twister, shine, stunner, and unicorn, only then they will make dazzler. So, i am kind of wondering whether to buy this low-selling bike or not, and it has no kicker too.
Meanwhile yamaha have given kicker option for Fz, and this is making me consider Fz again.
But i am still worried about the low-profile tyre. I have seen my cousin's neighbor having to change his fz rear tyre after riding on 250 feet of gravel due to road repairs for about 10 days, while my cousin's old victor, a pulsar, and old apache in the same area had no tyre problems despite riding on the same gravel.
I really think yamaha should give a 130/70 tyre option. The 140/60 is overkill for a 150cc and tyre profile is too low for indian roads. They just cant ignore real Indian roads conditions when designing a bike. Is there a 130/70 tyre option available for fz?Last edited by antonysg; 09-23-2011, 09:18 PM.

So far so good, as far as I am concerned, but haven't gone very far yet: 1,400km!Originally posted by antonysg View PostI really think yamaha should give a 130/70 tyre option. However, this low profile tyre maybe a concern, and is certainly a reason why Yamaha has gone for a 130/70-17 (and 100/80-17 front) on the new 250!
On this new bike, one can also notice the rear disc brake, a conventional tachometer....seems they have read owner's comments!
Personally: I am afraid it will lack the FZ, "macho" look, but I shall very probably go for a slightly bigger tyre when the day comes! Pirelli "Diablo Rosso" or "Sport Demon" 140/70-17 ?Last edited by Lucky Luke; 09-26-2011, 02:50 PM.When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

new tyre from MRF for fz and fazer
yestarday i went to MRF coimbatore to enquire about my fz's rear tyre frequent punctures and cracks along the grip. The Service Manager examined and asked me to replace the tyre under warranty by paying 600 rs as depreciation fee.
Then he enquired with someone and asked me to wait for 15 more days as MRF developed a new tyre for FZ because of YAMAHA's request and it is 130/70 in width he added.it will improve the mileage and 24000KM they are giving guarantee.
IS this true??is it worth waiting?
