  • Karizma R Queries

    1) Well, i had gotten the front brake pads replaced at 2900 KMS b.c. im pretty sure the company had changed them out yet the SVC was saying that because of the rain and stuff the pads were gone faster. Can anyone give me tips so i can use my pads longer then 2900 KMS?? please?? i cant afford 1k every 2900 KMS lol.

    2) Also, so far, i've been using Normal BP petrol (This petrol pump that i use has been known for the cleanest petrol in Vadodara, Gujarat.) but should i use speed or which petrol should i use to get the best out of the Karizma? Any tips please help.

    3) Some people have told me that if i keep the karizma at high RPMs all the time then my FE will be come 10-15. Is that true??? thank you.

    P.S. Any Help Is Appreciated........

dnt ram the brakes.. use 2 fingers to brake .

at times when u know u r going to get a signal... get down on gears well before signal and slow down....basically engine braking a bit

See, there is no benchmark set for brakepad wear. Usually they last till 13 -15 k kms. Your case seems highly improbable. Whatever the SVC says, take it with a pinch of salt. Maybe the disc pads weren't of good quality. The only tip I'd give you is that use both the brakes in the ratio of 60:40. Monthly maintenance i.e. running a high pressure jet of water between the disc pads washes away the dirt particles lodged between the disc and the pad.

Normal is best for the bike.

Who told you that?. High RPM(say 6-7k shifting) riding will result in low Mileage, but not that low. Expect something in the range of 23-25 kpl(If the cab is tuned properly)

What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

          1. 2900 kms is too early to change pads. The Service center must have changed them un-necessarily or there is something wrong. I changed mine at 15k kms. Though I am very gentle rider so 10 k may be reasonable time to change pads.

          2. Type of pertol is a never ending debate. Personally I put more faith in the petrol bunk rather than the types. Personally I use speed. Its not that I believe speed is better than others, Its just that the petrol bunk I use has not given me problems.

          3. At what RPM are you talking about? High RMP will obviously decrease FE for any machine. Though 10-15 is unrealistic unless your motorcycle has serious problems. My riding habit is constant 4k RPM on my Zma-R. I normally get anywhere between 40-50 kmpl. Not many will achieve this. Like I said, I'm very gentle rider.

very abnormal, atleast disc should last 15k.

Normal is the best, i experienced knocking with premium speed etc.

lowest FE of karizma i heard is 20, 10-15...is little unrealistic.

BTW - why are u asking this question? do u rip ur bike that bad?

Regarding Petrol, I use normal one on my bike it performs well. Xtra premium not that good.

Thank you everyone for your help, i guess i will continue using Regular fuel, and my disc pads i ram sometimes lol.

@anmol_1990- i rip my bike till 7.5-8k RPMS sometimes when im in the mood but that happens only sometimes.... And my bike is new so im pretty sure the carb is tuned perfectly for now.

I fill 300 RS petrol and i have drive about 202 KMS, and still on "ON" position so i guess im getting a good FE. i dunno how to calculate.... but i think im pretty sure its about 30 or more.......

Thank you everyone for your replies...... Appreciate It....

It is an endless debate as to whether premium petrol is good or normal petrol is good. What I feel is Premium and Speed are not worth. A good quality normal unleaded petrol from a good fuel station is worth. My bike always felt better with normal unleaded petrol. It knocked a little with speed and premium petrols. Very few times it ran as good as with unleaded petrol. I believe most of the fuel stations sell adulterated fuel as Speed and x-tra Premium. Most of the times, the petrol stations sell normal petrol as speed and xtra premium and make huge money out of it.

Disc pad can only wear out that fast if your Motorcycle has seen very rough conditions which meant entering of muck/mud in between the rotor & plates & the sand grinded them to good.

Make sure you fill from a company owned company retailed outlet. Websites would be up with their location.

Remain steady with your throttle, if you are carrying 6K, try to stick with it.

^^From my past experiences with the Karizma, it returned poor FE if the tacho went anywhere post 6K. Till 6K, I got high ~38-40kmpl.

and as far as fuels go, there was a good discussion about it, outside, but the admin has asked not to post 'outside' links. PM me & I will mail the link
