  • Best Rear Tyre for CBZ-X

    Hello Friends,

After riding approx 20k kms, the time has come to change and upgrade the beautiful stock tyre to a rough but rider friendly tyre.

    So following are my preferences:

    1. Stock tyre dimensions are 100-90-18. I would not mind if my bike can accomodate 110/120 size withought any modification or "NEGLIGIBLE" modification.

    2. The grip which is as good as possible on wet and rough terrains.

    3. is there something like a "less puncture prone" exists under the sun? if yes what will be pros and cons of such a tyre.

I request to all the readers of this thread to please repond as I am desperately looking for a better tyre for a couple of months.

    Thanks,
    Ranjeet

Go ahead and try MRF Zapper Q 110(Tube tyre, good for wet surfaces to an extent when compared 2 stock)''. never go for 120" , as resultant will be bad overall performance . i Dnt think theres is any tyre that can resist a puncture unless whole tyre is solid rubber of course tubeless can hold air with a puncture for a while due to lesser pressure compared to tube..

U can also go for pirelli, michelin, IRC etc , those are soft compound tyres and provide excellent grip in rain also. only con of them is as compound is soft u risk punctures on Bad roads.

Thanks Samarth for the suggestion, Actually I am a little sceptical about Zappers... Also most of the times I use alternate routes which results into a mix of roads from good to bad to very bad and also no roads, I am looking for a sturdy Tyre which has at least better in terms of grip also.

I have heard good things about MRF Meteor, still the advice from experts is very much needed

I have been using Michelin M45s front and rear on my Xtreme...and they are lot better than the MRF Zappers...but they are quite expensive than Zapper.

M45 4.00x18 goes in at the rear with little bend to the brake rod.

M45 is a good tyre i agree, but its a soft compound(correct me if wrong) which can get punctured in very bad roads, i dnt think its a good option for touring. Meteor is also a good option to your requirements as its grip is designed to perform well even in mud roads. My friend had a soft compound Pirelli tyre which got punctured by a sharp stone itself.. so i am a bit against soft compound especially for those leaving cities and cruising in the country sides.

I never had any problems with M45's on my bike..have taken them on one of the worst places, they do pretty good on off-roads, great on normal roads.

As satish said..4.00 looks little big on Xtreme. So try for 3.50.

4.00 translates almost to 100/90, but little wider and taller

are u sure 4.00 translates to 100/90? because stock tyre of extreme is 100/90 hence 4.00 is correct size if (if 4.00 = 100/90)

talking about puncture problem, you can go for unicorn's rear tyre tuff up tube..these tubes automatically seal off any small punctures even if there is a small nail and you pull it out..complete immunity is not possible but you can reduce the chances
If U haven't Seen GOD, U haven't gone fast enough

Tuff up tubes are not that good, also its good only till a single puncture. only advantage is it can prevent an accident by taking few seconds to leak air when punctured by nail etc. tubeless tyres on other hand have the upper advantage because by just filling air 'repeatedly' a person can travel as long as he wants . eg-a lazy friend of mine rode a week with a nail in his rear tyre by filling air in fuel pumps everyday..

*Those ppl interested in tubeless tyre valves for tube tyre alloys can buy direct fit valves available everywhere now(i bought it in raja tools bangalore), no need to drill alloy n make it bigger *
