  • quick tire/pulsar classic 150 question

need to replace front tire on pulsar 150 classic.

am getting aftermarket alloys and am switching to tubeless.

wanted to know what is the maximum width tire i can git inside the stock classic pulsar mudguard.

i want the widest possible cause i want more grip, fuel efficiency doesnt matter

i think the maximum i can install is a 3.00 x 18 tire. (most probably mrf)

i was told that i cannot put the 90/90x18 tire cause it will not fit inside the mudgurad

just wanted to confirm these things

    thanks in advance

Be careful and change only after getting more suggestion, Because once I changed 3.00 x 18 from my Samurai front wheel and right from the first day I started getting shoulder pain and also the steering became very hard, not know the reason but again while switching to 2.75 x 18 it worked fine.

Compared I did not feel any improvement in road grip, If you go for a wider one for the rear, it will work...

Buddy , Go for Apache rtr's front tire from my view its the best front tyre till date in any Indian motorcycle otherwise go for IRC's front tire which was used in pulsars between jan 2010 to may 2010.
        I am speed addict .

According to me 2.75 x 18 should suffice for the front. Don't put a fatter tyre in the front cos it affects the handling of the bike. You are right, the 90/90 will not fit in the stock mudguard. Check if you can get a 80/90 x 18. Dont know if its available or not. Had seen a tyre that size from IRC some time back in Pune.
A good quality tyre with the right kind of grooves will give you a better grip than an oversized tyre. I suggest research for a good groove pattern depending on your use, i.e. street, off-road or dual purpose tyres.
I had put Modi Continental 2.75 x 18 tyres on my old Pulsar 180 UG3 at front & a Barracuda 120/80 x 18 at rear (had changed the alloys to a 3 spoke black n chrome 18 inchers) & they offered great grip in all conditions.

Man, wider tyres often don't mean better grip. Its the compound of the tyre which the grip depends on.

I would second the Modi Continental 2.75 x 18, its excellent.

If you wish, you can go in for the Modi Continental for both front & rear as well.
              2.75 for front & 100/80 x 18 for the rear should suffice.

Forgot to mention. The Rear I would suggest Michelin Sirac, Awe-frickin-some grip. Dry, Mud, Wet - you name it, the grip doesn't falter. I've got it on my pulsar 150. 120*90/17.

You would have to cut a small section of the chain cover though, on the inside to make sure that the tyre doesn't touch it.

What I've got on mine is with tube. I'm not sure it comes in tubeless, will check and let you know.

Well last I checked the tubeless Michelin's were not available in Pune. Lets see if they have new stock now. There is a Michelin dealer near Nucleus Mall in Camp, don't know the name though.
