  • Help me people..

    I am owning pulsar 180 UG 4.. I live in a highly crowded and dusted area in chennai (T.Nagar)..

    I`ve many doubts to be clarified.

    1.my air filter gets dusted easily..is it advisable to put any air filters?? do i need to do cut a part in air box??

    2.is it advisable to fit P220 exhaust? will it make any change??
    Keep biking..

      Yes, if you want to get all the dust inside the cylinder & later spend a bomb* on getting the entire cylinder rebored or land up buying a new cylinder.

      No, if you want the dust to be filtered & clean up the filter regularly so that you get a longer life on your Pulsar.

      Except the size I don't think it makes any phenominal difference; anyway I'm not expert here, I'll leave the gurus to answer.

        1)you can simply remove the air filter cover and attach an aftermarket filter to the intake pipe..no cutting required..
        2)putting a 220's exhaust will reduce the performance as it is much heavier than the 180's exhaust and you do not gain any power.

            No it won't. If you don't install new jets then yes the bike will be more fuel efficient. but the lean mixture will damage the engine due to heat.

                Air filter

                Yes the K&N RC1060 is a direct fit to the Pulsar UG4 but you'll have to cut the air filter box as bajaj provides only a slit in which the OEM filter slides in, so it voids warranty. I had a Pulsar 180 UG3 & i had a K&N 1060 fitted along with upjetting. What I did was remove the OEM filter, cut the box & fitted the filter in place (which i later fitted direct to the carb). I was told by Bajaj ASS that warranty will be void if the box is cut. So i stuck the box back later with fevi-quick...
                Regarding the silencer i suggest dont go for the 220 silencer as its way heavier than the stock one. Performance will go down a little i guess...

                  220 silencer is unnecessary.
                  Cutting air boxes and plonking in the free flow air filter inside it defeats the whole purpose. The proper way for it is to install the new filter directly on the carb by removing the whole stock airbox and upjetting till the spark plug tip color changes from white to brown. Mind it BROWN and not BLACK!
                  Black=rich
                  white=lean
                  brown=perfect. Make sure you run slightly dark brown but not sooty black.
                  I suggest dark brown just to make sure that you are away from lean.

                        In my simple opinion, forget cutting the air filter box. its like cutting nose of a guy

                        its better you get the present airfilter cleaned more frequently.

                        because the new filter would require clean anyway.
                        We wouldn't need a forum if we all had same opinions, same thoughts, and same bikes..... Enjoy the difference.
