  • Vibrations on P150

    I have a 2006 model pulsar 150 UG2,.
    odo reading:-25800km
Got my bike serviced last week

    1) I changed front disc pads and fork oil.
    2) changed Engine Oil to MOTUL 300V.
    3) adjusted back shocks on the higher side to increase bike's height.

I took back my bike back to my house which is just half KM.
but, when i went for a long ride today, feeling vibrations on handle bar.
after 40km of riding, my hands started paining due to those vibrations.
it occurs from the moment bike starts moving.

    what could be the problem?

The three things taht you have serviced can be a cause for this prpblme

      Engine Oil
      Front Forks
Back SHock --- all three can be a cause

Engine Oil change will not be a major cause
Get back the bike to the same cantre where u serviced - this will be the best option

        @above,
took back to the same service centre.. he said the vibrations are due to new oil inside forks or may be due to new brake pads.. he himself not sure y its happening..
he says me to wait for few days and notice if it stops..also, said me to lessen the front tire pressure.. but its already 4 days.. still vibrations are present

          Have a self Check

Make the bike in Centre Stand - Rotate the front tyre - check for any hissing sound from the Disc ---- (usually there will be a small sound)
But if the wheel doesnt stops in its usual Rotation - then it could be of the new Brake Pads scrapping the discs

Try this sit on the bike - and Put your full weight into the handlbar and see the movement of the Front Forks -
          Else
If your a stunter try to do a stoppie and see the Front forks allighnment

This could be due to the excess of Fork Oil used in it.
          or
Front Forks could have been bended

Else check your handle bar screws - try to remove and put the bar again

Other then these - there may not be any reason for the vibrations in your concern

Guys tried all those except for stoppies as i dont know how to do ..
there is no problm in braking or forks.. there is no bends.

but when i checked rear wheel, there seem to be small bend in alloys. very negligible..
can it cause vibration in front??

                1) I changed front disc pads and fork oil.
Front Disc pad: if too tight will not allow the front wheel to move freely u can check this by keeping on main stand.(very unlikely to produce vibs).
FORK OIL:this is meant for dampening if you keep ur bike offstand and apply front brakes and put pressure on the handle forwards the front shocks should travel 1-2 inches downwards if this is happening freely no need to worry, If its hard then you need to ask the mech to loosen the top bolt on the shock bottle to allow some oil to drain off. (In this case also even with more oil in fork u should not get vibrations).

                2) changed Engine Oil to MOTUL 300V.
Can you confirm the consistancy of this oil, Is it the same as Castrol 20-50. This is very important. If its of a lesser consistancy then u will get
heavy vibrations. If its too thick then you will not get much vibes but the performance will become a bit less on the pick up.

                3) adjusted back shocks on the higher side to increase bike's height.
I have all my doubts on this one. the higher u adjust the shocks the harder they become. This is not meant to increase the height but soften or harden the ride. GET THIS CHANGED TO A MID POINT . The VIBES will dissappear.

Let me know which worked ENJOY the RIDE

1)Front wheel is moving freely.. there is no obstuction from brakes.
shocks are fine too tested as u said.. it goes inside more than wat u said.

2)its a 15W50 grade fully synthetic oil.. so i dont think any problem with this as most of the pulsars use this. Even before i was using the same oil, there was no vibrations at that time.

3)My back shocks were weak so i increased the height to lessen the impact.

even i think vibrations are due to back shocks..
i'll re-adjust the shocks tomorrow and will report back.
