      Hi Prakharaya

Company recommends using 20 w40 grade engine/transmission/gearbox oil.

For gearbox oil you have options with Mineral, semi-synthetic and Fully synthetic.

If you have rebuilt completely new engine and currently require run-in period then I could recommend using Mineral based oil.

      You have options:

Yamalube-2t gearbox oil (available with Yamaha dealer)
      Shell (available at Shell bunk)
      Castrol

If it is a regular oil change would recommend semi-synthetic gearbox oil

Note: They are meant for 4stroke however, can be used for 2stroke as well. (I'm using Motul semi-synthetic 5100 on my RX)

      You have options:
      Shell
      Motul (5100 - 5w40)
      Castrol

Frankly speaking I have not yet tried fully synthetic oil on my bike so would reserve my comments here. There are people who are using fully synthetic on their 2 strokes.

For more information and knowledge base refer to Engine Oil thread

I've run my bike in 15w50 and also 10w40 (which I will confirm once at home).

There are no issues with running both the grades.

I would recommend you to use X40 ( it could be 5w40,10w40 etc).

EDIT: You might want to check this Motul link. Check below 7100 for information what I was talking about.

thanks for the suggestion, and one thing more, whenevr i use to speed my bike from initial, when shifted from 1st to 2nd, after some milliseconds or so, automatically downshift occurs. It is very annoying and i m facing this prob after i switched to castrol mineral oil.Is this related to gearbox oil change or so ????? (gear comes again in 1st)

When gears automatically downshift, it is called gear slipping. Yes it is due to gearbox oil change. Try switching to semisythetic oil like we talked about the other day.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

I know this thread is not active for sometime now..but still would like to ask the experts about oils...what oil do you recommend for premix. I recently bought an 89 model RX 100 which has 5 gear modded. I am eager to start using Motul 5100 s, as said above. Would appreciate some advise experts.

I'm thoroughly confused here. You need help to find out best oil for gearbox or engine? 5100 is used for gearbox oil in rx and NOT A PRE MIX. 2t oil has many options to close from. Motul 510 2t oil semi synthetic, motul motomix mineral oil, motul 800v fully synthetic oil. Apart REM that you got shell, agip, petronas,
                        mak, gulf , castrol etc.

Apologies SriraEfunds...i did not frame my question properly here..I meant i would be starting to use the motul 5100s for my gearbox..about the premix..which oil do you prefer out of all those??

Earlier ExxonMobil used to manufacture oil for Yamalube and it was very good as many felt including me. These days Tide Water Co., (looking at the label) does it for them as they do for many other market leaders. There not been much enthusiasm among the Yamalube users.
