  • Digital meter error - need help

    Hi Folks,
I have a Pulsar 150 DTS-i and recently my bike got drenched in rain and some time after that my digital meter wasnt functioning properly(like showing incorrect speed, some lights weren't glowing, etc) and after some time of riding, it totally stopped working. Ma tacho got stuck at 5k rpm and speedo isnt displayin anything .Initially i thought it was minor issue and riding some miles would solve my probs.(as i had faced such issues earlier and had same resolution)

I rode some 250 k's in the same day and still having the same problem. I consulted a nearby mechanic and he said that i need to take my bike to a meter shop and only they can fix it and he suggested the meter board needs to be changed.

I stay in chennai and can anyone suggest me a good shop where Digital meter are repaired and how much does a meter board costs for a P150??

PS: I have even visited nearby Jai Bajaj showroom and they said they these works can be done only along with the service of bike( I had serviced my bike in the same showroom a week back and cant afford to do one more service again )

If water is allowed to stay on the printed circuit board for long time, then a conductive whitish coating will form between the soldered joints, which leads to malfunction of circuits. The total panel must be opened and all the PCB's soldered points must be cleaned with Isoprophyl Alcohol and left to dry. The Alcohol will be available at Ritchie street, and If you are confident you can open and do the cleaning, or else go to the Service guys...Leaving it as it is and using may lead to damage of components .
Alternatively try blowing Hot air from a Hair Dryer on the PCB...though not as effective as cleaning it. There is a Pulsar Service Manual in PDF form in the forums.Go through it ...It will be useful if u decide to do it yourself.

            Dear Deno,
I had similar problems with my P150, i sun dryied it and its functioning like stock now.

for you you need to open it up, before it gets corroded.

if your bike is not more than an year old, you can replace it under warranty.
We wouldn't need a forum if we all had same opinions, same thoughts, and same bikes..... Enjoy the difference.
