  • Removing inner fairing of p220

    Hi P220 owners and experts,

I am trying to remove the inner fairing piece (2 black pieces around the speedo assembly). I am doing this to replace the helmet visor nut bolts.. and to get a better access to the Head lamp assembly. The service guys screwed my wiring... now it have multiple cuts and joins with no insulation. Last month my low beam bulb fused. Today my machine showed speeds like 199... 165.. and 0 for some time.. Then it was back to proper duty.

I have removed some screws. To understand current situation I am attaching snaps. Though i have removed all screws fairing pieces are not coming out. I think there is some lock in it.

Its easier when you remove tank and then the inner fairing ... Lock ... not exactly there but yes understand that the inner fairing is under the outer fairing the part where the screws go through ... So you have to bend the inner faring such that it comes out from under the outer fairing .... start from the top ...

Tried that. but the fairing pieces refused to come out. So to avoid breaking it, stopped the attempt, until I get clear instructions.

go to a pbk showroom and get it fixed by experts, the p220f is known for it's fairing, it will be sad if you break it while trying to "fix" it. And if you're hell bent on removing the fairing why not remove the whole fairing and fix a fz type headlight?? just a thought!

best way is to remove the frame with fairing ,it prevents scratches.
i removed fairing from my p220 ,heres the procedure i followed
1.remove the screws on upper side (around the petrol tank)
2.remove the plastic visor on doom.
3.remove number plate and then the plastic sheet that is located at bottom of the fairing.
              4.remove the rear view mirrors.
5.now look underneath, remove screws fixed at bottom of fairing near the "f"logo.
6.remove the 2 big screws ,which are seen together (as you look down on front forks while sitting on the bike).
7.right below the headlamp there a 2 big screws, remove them too.
8.look carefully in the space betwen the fairing and petrol tank ,there is a nut ,remove it.
9.deattach the wire plugs (hidden in hollow rubber casing)
10.deattach head lamp assembly from fairing.

i know it late to reply, but i hope it helped you.
