RR Unit & Coil Rewinding a necessity?

    Hi Nano!

Replying to this thread after a long time. Well, I recently checked out with a street mechanic and as per him, whatever procedures mentioned by you above isn't required at all b'coz the HID Kit will be installed with a Cut-out which in turn would not allow batter to drain. He says that in many discover bikes, the HID Kit costing approx Rs. 1'800/- have been installed without the above procedures and have not heard of single complaint from these customers of battery draining or HID Kit not functioning.

Could you please throw some light on this matter as why your procedures a compulsion for the installation of the HID Kit? Thanks for your time!

    Regards,
    Apoorva.

      trust me, it will happen.
until and unless you DO NOT do the necessary procedures required for full DC conversion, it will be a problem.

on a practical basis, why don't you go ahead and buy an HID kit and get it installed from the same mechanic ?
it will last you a day or so and then your battery will be dead.

give it a try, if it works well (which i am sure it won't) then well and good, if it doesn't then we'll follow our own method, i too live in mumbai, can help you for the latter part personally...

Re: HID Kit for Bajaj Discover 125CC?

        Hi All,

It's a really old thread but I am trying to do exactly the same hence this query. The latest Bajaj Discover 2015 models are all DC headlamps now (they proudly mention that on the website). I am thinking of buying one soon.

Here's what they say on the website.
        1. "Discover 125M's 12V 35/35W DC headlamp not only ensures a steady beam of light even when the engine is idle or at slow speeds. It does not flicker or dim!"
        2. "Unlike a regular headlamp, DC headlamp remains at full brightness even at low speeds, providing maximum safety."

So, whatever capacity battery it has (unspecified), since it is DC headlight and built for 35 Watts, I suppose I could simply plonk in a 35 Watt Projector HID setup and get going? All those workarounds of sourcing powerful RR units, converting the electricals to DC etc are no longer needed? Or still anything to be done?

Experts please suggest. I travel long stretches of unlit roads everyday and lighting has really been a challenge as is for everyone. Also please suggest good one in 4300K and having good low beam spread. I rarely use high beams.

        Regards,
        Uday
