  • Strange zig-zig of handle

I have a pulsar 220.My bike has since a few weeks developed a problem where the handlebars seem to have some artificial intelligence and the start swerving either direction.
At higher speeds it has become very dangerous to ride it and also braking hard has become a big problem because the tires suddenly skid.Even while turning hard the bike sometimes turns more and skids.
Day before yesterday i had to brake really hard and my bike completely skid on the right lane but somehow I just managed to stay onboard and not crashing(Thank God)
Could the pros and members please give me some idea as to what could be the problem.(I think it started after a had gone over a pothole which seemed bigger than a crater)
I'll be going to the mechanic after 17th November when my exams finish.
    Thanks!
    *zig-zag

is cone set and handle ball bearings the same?if so i have already replaced them quite some time back and now they are fine(handle used to give a 'thak-thak' sound while going over potholes)

did your replaced the whole cone set or just the balls?

check your fork for any bend and make sure correct fork oil leavel (is there any leak from fork seal)

check for any bend in your alloy. Yes though they are alloys, i had seen pulsar's with bend alloys.

lastly check your T stem(so called by local mech,AFAIK it the part that connect chase to the fork.)

I suppose i must have replaced the whole thing.
Okay,I will check the other things you have mentioned.
Even a friend of mine had once mentioned it could be a fork problem.
BTW is there a chance that there could be any wheel alignment problems?

Handle AI is a tell-tale sign of busted cone set. Get it fixed asap as using it for prolonged time will make you used to it!! Even new cone set can go bad if it has not been fixed properly, as in over tightening it...
Yes, also check the forks for leaks etc, as well as any faults with the wheel!

Lastly, take it easy till you get it rectified - like you mentioned it can be quite dangerous..

                @lijok Thanks for the reply!
I will get the checking done with a good mechanic
The service center guys seem pathetic. They just don't seem to have any interest in solving any problem which is slightly complex.

                  P220 issues

                  Hello There
1)First of all check your Tyre pressure (set it to to manufacturer standard)
2)Check Tyre thread wear if it is uneven or not
3)Fork oil check if there is any dent or oil has lost its viscosity fork out
                  4)Check Rims
5)Check handle bar cone and its Ball Bearing

Hey I am facing a similar problem as you do. Going to get my ball bearings/cone set changed as there doesn't seem to be a problem with anything else.

Oh oh. before you touch your ball bearing get the cone set loosened/tightened depending on how your bike is behaving. My mechanic in andheri loosened it a bit and the bike is behaving far better now.

However, there seems to be some problem with the ball bearing and its making noise so that might be 'the' solution for me - changing the bearings!

Okay i also then gotta check its tightness first then otherwise the mechanic may just start saying something complicated
