    Pulsar 150 engine giving problem

    Hello everybody!!!!.......I hope all of u r doing fine.........
    COming to the problem with my bike:
    I have a pulsar 150 ug2 which has don around 26k kms. Recently at about 25000 kms i got the block piston set and the valves changes since my bike was not able to keep the idling rpm and the bike used to give white smoke when revved very hard.....So i got it changed and i am happy now that the bike is again able to keep the idling rpm.....As per the rules for new piston during break in period i have driven my bike at not more than 55 kmph at the 5th gear till about 1100kms........I noticed that initially my bike was giving me a fuel service of around 62kmpl.....I was stunned because of that n i went to the mechanic to decrease the mileage since the engine was getting too hot....but he ignored by saying that 4stroke bikes only need good circulation of engine oil and nothing else..........but i noticed that my bike was getting too much heated up than my friends new pulsar.......Then by reading the forum topics oneday i tuned my bike n drove my vehicle.....The spark plug reading was correct....It was like a dark brownish colour......So i was happy about that n that time i got a mileage of around 55kmpl.....Recently on an empty road i wanted to revv up my bike.........Here the problem started with my bike........I started revving up my bike and my bike started giving jerks at about 70 kmph......then i decreased the acceleration throttle and again started pulling the throttle but it went on givng jerks as if my fuel tank was empty whereas it was not........so i changed my fuel supply from main tank to reserve and then the problem got solved....but again when i gave the supply to the main tank then my bike rode form approx. 18kms.....So i was shocked seeing that.....This incident happened couple of times and so i am very disappointed with my bike which used to be my black horse for 5 years....Also these days i noticed that the engine sound has become shrill instead of that deep noise which used to come when i used to revv my bike earlier.......The engine is also rough.........No one over here is able to give me a correct solution...SO i need your help guys..Please help me out with my problem guys....It will be of great help to me and my bike....

      if the jerking at high speeds problem is getting solved when you put your fuel cock on reserve that means the problem is either in fuel cock or petrol filter inside tank.

      regarding engine sound..check whether your silencer is ok. old and worn out silencers give this kind of sound.

      and typically pulsar steel silencers of 150 gets busted very soon. check your silencer.

        The fuel cock issue is normal, nothing to worry for. It happens even with my one year old Pulsar. How much time has gone past since your last service and engine oil change?

          @princesirohi: My bike's silencer is in good condition......actually my mechanic puts engine oil at the opening of the silencer....Might be because of that........I also noticed one thing for a long time: Whenever i run my bike for a fairly long time an irritating "Jhin jhin" sound comes from the engine of the bike..It seems as if the engine of the bike is very much stressed....Also the engine becomes rought then....and a peculiar "krshhh krshhh" sound comes from the crankcase..... my mechanic told me that it is due to the worn out clutch base....I am not sure of that and so i need your advice.......Yesterday I took my bike for a test drive and i revved her upto 85kmph.....Then when i stopped my bike i was shocked to see engine oil coming to the mouth of the exhaust....What can be the reason for that????....Is it because of worn out piston rings or is it because i give oil to the silencer pipe???........Actually i changd the piston set only 1.3k kms back n so i am very worried about that.

          @abhichotu.abhi: My bike was recently serviced at approx 400 kms back......So i dont think engine oil will be a problem...What do u say????........Now i am using the veedol super swift 10W40 semi synthetic engine oil........

            The change in engine sound to krshhhh is not a issue at all. The metal parts expands on heating and thus the sound like krshhh is produced.(As told to me by SC mechanic when I asked him the same question) and there has been no problems till now. You should rather ride your bike without any strain. Let it be as it is for some 1-2K kms and then observe it. Any bike will not remain the same as new. The exhaust oil issue, the only time I saw oil from the exhaust was when the piston rings of my old bike were busted and not anymore able to take the pressure.

                may be ur valves seal worn, thats why oil gets into cylender and comes out from silencer. U should contact ur mechanic by which u serviced ur bike.

                  If you are so concerned then you should ask the mechanic to open up the head and see the condition of piston rings, maybe they have not settled rightly.

                        Yes, this might be the case if you have not followed correct run-in. In any case replacement is the best solution.

                            Nope! It is not necessary, if your rings are alright. Only in the case that your rings are not settled, you will have to replace the rings only.
