  • Yamaha gladiator type ss gear problem

    hello everyone..good morning,
i have an yamaha gladiator type ss,which i had purchased 20 months back.and i have clocked around 11K kms.

It has ridden only by me,and i had taken enough care in running-in period of the bike, and have never ripped off my bike, except on highways..i use the right grade of oil.and even lubricate the chain at the service center only..and my bike has not been touched by any other mechanic.

i have been facing gear related issues like
1>mis shifts and false neutrals while shifting down from 2nd to 1st gear, and vice versa
2>when i used to release clutch from rest,in the 1st gear,it wont used to move, and a sound like khatttt used to come, and it used to then start moving..

facing the above issues since the first service, and yamaha ppl had sent me off at that tym sayin that as its a new bike,it would take time to wear and get smooth..and thereafter they have been saying they would resolve and repair it,but haven done so yet.
    and now,the matters have worsened,when i release clutch,in 1st and 2nd gear,the bike vibrates,it has lost its pick up..
vibrations come from the chain, rear i guess..and the khatt sound comes from the front on releasing the clutch..
these problems are now getting on my nerves,as the pleasure of riding has greatly diminished..
waiting for your expert advice and help.
    thanking you,
    aniruddh

I am not sure whether the petrol type has any relation to the notchy gear box. I would leave this to the experts. However, you might want to check the Engine oil being used, the chain tightened correctly and also check the clutch bearings. There might also be a possibility of the clutch plates being worn out. Though normally, the life of clutch plates is around 20k KMs.

Thanx a lot..and I'am very careful when it comes to engine oil. I used yamalube mineral oil for the frst 2500kms..then usd yamalube semisynth oil til 7000kms,had replaced at 2500kms..and therafter used castrol power1 ss,nd nw shell vsx4t ss..
Chain slackness n its lube had been taken care of in all services..

Bro you should not use that many engine oils. The four stroke engines have to be used with a single brand engine oil & you should stick to that brand only. In two strokes its a different thing but in four strokes you should not change between different brands everytime since the engine gets adjusted to the oil being used. If you want then you can switch between different brands but dont do it at such short intervals & dont use that many brands.
