  • karizma rectifier

I was using 9amp pro rider on my karizma for past 1 and a half years. Now that when i could feel the battery was running low,i went to amaron sales n service from where i got the battery.i had 60 months warranty, so wanted it to be replaced. But i was told that my rectifier has problem and it was over charging and i cant get replacement.I went to herohonda to replace my rectifier but when tested it was perfect. And they told me it does not need a replacement.

Any one else faced problem like this??
The instrument they fixed on the rectifier showed 14.80 in idle and 14.45 when in say 5000 rpm... is that normal or its the same in karizma...
Plzz help if any one knows it for sure...

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

@Akhil - I've heard that Amaron has this specific problem that the input has to be perfectly 14V to get charged normally without any damage to battery.

        your rectifier is working perfectly.
unless its not exceeding 14.5v its working good and these things barely needs a replacement.

you need to get your battery replaced.
karizma is one of the best bike's in this contry which can produce ample amount of current, the battery will take in anything and since it has lasted 1.5 years with NO problems so far, its clear that battery is the culprit.

even i use a 9 amp amaron FYI.
service guys are a bit dodgy, tell them i've checked everything and so on, get it replaced, or else find another dealer for replacement if the dealer doesn't wish to get it replaced.

yaa wat confuses me is that, when in idle it goes up to 14.8 but when the rpm is around 5k its 14.4 only...why is that>>normally when u accelerate more, it has to produce more current rit!!!

the bold underlined area bothering me most.how do u know its goin down?self not working in morning?headlight dimmed?

as the 9 amp batt is not default of zma its 7 amp as i remeber the amaron guys can be pain in the a&&.

as you upgreaded the battery from stock did you modified any other electrical parts?like a 55/60 bulbs without relay or anything?

the way to troubleshoot the electricals is given below...

            1. first check the battery voltage with help of volt meter (digital) both on load and off load through various rpms.
            2. check the ampere with a help of ammeter.

just be sure that you have a fully charged battery while testing.

zma is having a 3 phase charging system,so the voltage variation from 1k rpm to 9k rpm will not vary much.most prbably it will stay from 14~16 volts.
if the load is not there then voltage can drop while revvin up the engine.just switch on the headlight and check again.
if amaron is sayin 14.8 volts is too much to fry there battery then tell them to cut the bullcrap, check any car voltage it says always 14~15 volt range irrespective of rpm range, its pure rubbish from there end.

also check the gravity of each cell of the battery with gravity meter which any battary wala will have, all the cells should have same rating.
as nano said its very unlikely the rr and coil fails if they are not tinkered absurdly.

I felt the battery is low becoz morning self start was not possible..but then after some 3 kms run it was very easy..also my trip meter gets reset every time i use self..i am not much into multimeter and stuffs... but still i will try... ya Amaron guys says that 14.25 is the max... and anything above is not normal.and yes i am using osram night breaker(55/60) direct fit...
