  • water leaking into fuel tank

Hey guys i need help. Whenever it rains or i get my bike washed water gets in where the fuel filler cap is. theres a hole there to drain the water out but thtas been clogged up, as a result of which water gets inside my fuel tank.

Went to my local mechanic a few weeks back for some tuning work, mainly because the bajaj probiking service centre is useless (own a pulsar 200 btw), and he found that my bike wasn't starting, turned out that other than a saprk plug not firing, there was water inside my fuel tank. A good TWO LITRES of water came out.

i have no idea how to solve this problem, or even how to get around it. am afraid to get my bike washed in fear of water getting into my fuel tank again. If any of you guys have a solution to this please help me out.

    thanks

yea am trying to get that done. my mechanic told me that they used the same acid wash that is used to clean the inside of the tank. But what about the rubber seal in the fuel cap, shouldn't that prevent water from coming in?

Hi there bro....actually i had the same problem in my P150 classic...and u reminded me of the time when i actually was afraid of getting my bike washed....nyways u can ask the svc guys to clean up the drain hole and check the pipe ....this will solve the problem.

and about the rubber seal u talking about...it is there to stop water flowing directly into the tank...but the water which is stored inside the fuel lid will flow in the tank only when the lid is opened....

that may be the case but i think water is leaking in even when the fuel cap is closed. i probably have to get the rubber seal changed as well.

hopefully the service centre will be able to clean out the drain point, these days usually they dont seem to have any parts or cleaning agents required to do the right job.
