  • Air Filter for 1989 Rx100

    Hello guys,

I have recently started restoring my dad's RX100 . I'm pretty happy with the performance, but would love to have that extra cherry above the icing.

So I planned to install a K&N Rc1060 or a pipercross air filter.By going through some mods by members, these were my inferences:

    1. Increase in power
    2. Cleaner carburettor
    3. Rejetting may be necessary

the final point is fuel efficiency......some find to have increased...while others find to have decreased...

PLEASE CLARIFY MY DOUBT........Will the FE be affected in any way ( if so, then to what extent)

( coz i already get ~40 on street and ~53 on highways )

    Thanx in advance.

I suggest you avoid K&N. There is a lot of hassels involved and you would need to find a really good mech for jetting. If it is not done correctly then you would damage the engine.
The easiest would be Sprocketing. This also does not have any effect on the engine.

Well, congrats and bet of luck for restoring that beast

Regarding air filter, i have had my bad experience from k & n (did'nt know about pipercross)

Installing k & n needs you to put bigger jets, run on lean fuel mixture and this ultimately lead you to decrease in fuel efficiency as you are providing more fuel to the motor than normal

My suggestion - Stick to stock air filter, this is only some time being modification. Care it's engine brother, legends don't reborn

@BSK - Avoid K&N, better opt for Uni filters & use a TM/VM 24/26 carbs. Your FE is going to take a hit for sure with these carbs. Use 16/34 sprockets for better top end at the cost of acceleration.

Last but not the least, if you're getting 53Kmpl on highways, even at sedate speeds, beware, its not a good sign.
