  • Passion carb tuning

    Hello to everyone!

I have a questions in my mind. On passion's carb, where is the air screw located? I was trying to tune the carb coz bike was jerking a lot, but could't find the screw.

If possible please post some pics.
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Self tuning a carb for proper efficiency is very difficult. dozens of times tuning+demo rides has to be done. it doesn't take much long for the tuning to get messed up .

Clean the carb once.once factory or SVC tuned, never mess with it again. im not discouraging u, but it takes a lot more effort and expertise than we can actually think off. I've been meddling with my CD100's air and idle screw. never got it right. normally the air screw is located exactly opposite of the idle screw.
Ex : if idle screw is on the left side of bike, air screw is on the right. The air screw is always coated with copper like paint.its small..

once fully removed it looks like this.

Difficult, but not impossible right? I might fall down several times, but it is when I don't get up, I'm failing.

Not always the A.S.S or factory settings are right; the settings go wrong due to actual riding conditions making us to keep tuning them once in a while. I'm not talking against you, but trying to say, with lot of efforts, the expertise can be built. Even the guy at A.S.S or local garage learned these through several trial & error.

I struggled a lot with my TM28 & the bike jerked like mad, never received any concrete info from forum, I'd to google a lot, learn & understand lot of things & finally, I can afford to mess with my carb even in middle of no where Thanks to 3 months of my patience, willingness to learn & trial & errors.

          tuning a herohonda carburettor

tuning a passion carburettor is easy provided you know what you are doing.
before tuning ensure that carburettor is cleaned or is not dirty.
          for tuning the procedure are:-
          1. open the right hand side cover of locker box.
          2. where the cover lock is engaging with the box there is a black oval dust cap.
          remove it.
          3. now start the engine and ensure that engine is sufficiently warm.
          4. raise the idle rpm by turning the spring loaded screw on the left hand side of carburettor so that engine is running at 3-4k rpm.
          5. now look through the hole in the locker box from where you removed the dust cap, you will see a brass screw sitting in the hole on the carburettor body.
turning the screw clockwise tightens it and turning anticlockwise loosens it.
6.now with the idling raised slowly tighten the screw completely. when the screw is tightened completely slowly open it by carefully by listen to engine sound. stop where the idling or sound is highest.usually it is situated in between 1.25-1.75 turns from full tight. now after confirming the tunning decrease the idling to the lowest that the engine can run without hiccups and test the tuning by suddenly opening the throttle from fully closed to fully open. in a passion carburettor it should show some hesitation. if proper tuning cannot be obtained by this method even with clean carburettor then open the air screw and see that there is no dirt at the tip of air screw.
sometimes even with proper tuning and clean carburettor bikes show jerking because of dirt on tip of air screw.
try this if and only if you know and previously have seen carburettor tunings or else rush to mechanic he will do it in 5 minutes and you can learn from him
