Hello guys. This is my first post on this forum. I joined with the express reason of clearing my head and my doubts, so here goes ...
I am a biker at heart who has not ridden a bike in about 6 years. I am based in Mumbai and have somehow started finding the commute to and from office in my car and in the taxi a tad bit boring and time consuming. Which is why I am considering a bike.
I was considering buying the Ninja 250R sometime back, but with the news of the Honda 250cc I am a bit circumspect. I was also considering getting an FZ-16 but got put off by the waiting period - 3 months in Mumbai was what I was told.
What I am thinking about right now is to restore my RX135 5-speed. This is a bike that I sold my RXZ to get. Even took a loan from a friend.
I got the bike in 2000 and rode it till 2004. Have parked it in my wife's place in Pune since and have maybe started it once in 2006. It is KA registered which means that it is not easy to take this out on the road either. I require your help / advice / guidance in getting a good mechanic / hobbyist who will help me put my old flame back in working condition. I am also looking for some enhancements:
1. Front disc brakes
2. I have a Yezdi tyre at the back - need to go back to stock / something better
3. I have a Yezdi head lamp in front - need to change this to stock with better lights
4. My tank has been dented quite severely - need a new one
Some help in getting the paperwork in order will be much appreciated as well. I am the typical management consultant with very little free time jet to Bangalore and get the paper work in order.
In case you feel that it is too much of a hassle getting a bike of this vintage up and running and that it would be better to get a new bike, then do tell me so.
