  • Help Please...smoke from my exhaust

After taking my bike for a yesterday that i noticed smoke coming out of my exhaust at higher RPM..! Generally this was not the case 3 months back. I thought it was due to the headlights of car behind me that the smoke is evident during night than during the day. But today morning when i checked in it broad day light, i saw faint black smoke from my exhaust. What could be wrong...? Please let me know. Because i think i need to get it rectified soon before something major happens to my bike...!

    Query approved.

I guess the damage has already been done to your bike. How old is your bike?

Pure black smoke is bike running RICH AF mix.CHECK AND CLEAN YOUR AIR FILTER. If it is blueish smoke either your piston rings or valve stem guides are gone.Check the Spark plug center electrode color.if it is DRY black soot..it is running rich ,if it is oily then rings suspect.Check the Exhaust tip..if it is oily soot then definitely piston rings worn....may be even the bore.

I think ur piston ring are gone. this problem occur normally after 30k. This type of problem is combined with some other common problems like early blackning of engine oil, early draining, knocking sounds after geting hot.
if you find this problem early i mean if this is its initial stage, u have to only check minor things like rings and Gasket. and these doesn't cost u so much but if ur late that it may b possible that ur piston, bore, head may be replaced.+ crank allingment. these things are really goes above the limit =5000 Rs. on service station. So its good to have some early solution.

            Hi sunilg

Sunilg, my bike is 3 years old. But as i mentioned above i dont see ant thick smoke from my exhaust. it's not in blue colour. It's in faint black. i would say it's close to Grey. I dint find any oil deposit on my plugs nor did i find any oily soot on the exhaust rim.. What could be wrong...?

first..... the thread name should be changed to smoke from my bike's exhaust, it was out of imagination when i saw written my exhaust.

jokes apart, in addition to above advises you should also check fuel quality you are using.
We wouldn't need a forum if we all had same opinions, same thoughts, and same bikes..... Enjoy the difference.

Even i had this problem when my bike was at 40k+ kms,my problem was the carbon depoists in the silencer.i cleaned it and was ok.even i experienced smoke after 8k rpm.if it is piston rings problem u can experience a drastic drop in mileage and ur oil level within 500kms.

Same issue with my P200 guys....faint black smoke at higher RPMs.
My bike is 26 months old with 31K on the odo. Used mineral, semi synthetic and fully synthetics oils
On researching and consulting many mechs.got many diff opinions.
But one thing was common, carbon formation in the engine head, valves, silencer.
Solution: Engine head de carbonizing, Engine flushing.
