CBZ Star problem

well do have the carburettor checked as well ( as part of an overhaul)
since you DID mention that you felt the heat of the engine, its very much possible that you're running a lean mixture, leaner mixture gives you a better kmpl figure but it harms the engine.
in your overhaul
have the engine opened and have the following checked
piston,
may have gone/ burnt out
piston rings,
may get burnt out and reduce the performance, if your bike emits noticeable (even if the slightest) white smoke , then its an indicator of the piston rings needing replacement
valves (inlet and exhaust) ,
may need de carbonization (accumulation of burnt fuel matter chokes the valves, and they might require cleaning)
connecting rod (from piston to crankshaft)
if excessive vibrations are there from the engine the connecting rod bearing might be worn out
clutch plates
but is noticeable if you are have gear shifting problems and bike doesnt go that fast from stand still even when the engine is revving high with the clutch lever released
and
carburetor tuning ( check whether the air screw is set properly) many cbz owners have it tuned for mileage which is nothing but making the mixture lean which lowers the fuel consumption a bit. but this burns out the valves and piston rings and maybe even the piston.
chain sprocket
visually inspect the sprocket teeth and chain. if the chain is tightened to the max (by sliding the wheel back using the chain slider adjustment nut) and the chain is still loose then the sprocket defn needs replacement (like mine at the moment
but im broke )
tyres
if your tyres are in good condition and at the right pressure resulting in more grip and thus you reach the top speed faster

Xeno, thanks boss. The tweaks that you mention sure sound costly, but I'll take care of them one at a time over the next few months. For overhaul, I am not sure which mechanic to go to: the regular HH guy, the big-shop HH guy or the new-mech that stores Motul 300V and seems like a good one for the job (never went to him for servicing, though).

Hey all....finally figured out the problem with my bike's handling: the rims were bent. Now that must have happened when I did a solo trip of about 200 km, which had patches of bad roads and hit potholes at 60-70 kmph
, while smoking some cars
. Got the rims 'taaled', as the local mechs call it. Need to be more careful this time, as I am hitting the same road again this weekend with my buddies
.
About the chain set, my mech opened it up and showed my that the current setup can bear another 4k kms before needing a replacement. So I guess I will have to wait till Dec to do that. Overhaul will be coming sooner than that, though.

as long as it can be tightened the chain sprocket doesn't need to be replaced
my chain actually came off yesterday
so finally replaced the sprocket.. going to hang it on my wall with the tag "30k kms of riding"

Hi friends.
I hav CBZ star 2005 with disc, done around 41k kms. I use 20W40 castrol changed a month ago during servicing. I replace spark plug with NGK, and hav changed sprocket and chain kit.
But still performance is not remarkable.
Some times Engine emits white smoke on idle rpm. and gets overheated. pickup is not so good. Bike resists to go above 50 kmph and starts vibrating. I found thick greasy black deposit at exhaust. I think piston rings should be changed and needs decarbonization.
But Mechanic told me that my bike needs new piston, boring in the block.
What should I do????

since your bike is not PERFORMING like a CBZ should (based on your previous posts), i suggest you get you bike back up to its optimum performance before thinking about oil grades. And yeah, stick to 20w40 !!Originally posted by PrakhaR Maurya View PostIn cbz classic, If i use 10w30 instead of 20w40, what will be the effect on performance?
And your bike definitely needs a rebore with new piston& rings (or a new block+piston kit if you can spend more) and also new valves & valve guides, and maybe even a timing chain kit! In short it needs a top end rebuild.

one more problem arises. 3 weeks ago, I changed air filter with original one (Hero Honda) at that time sound remarkably changed. I feel bass when I pull throttle, it was awesome sound
. But 4 days ago the bass is surprisingly gone
& sound becomes changed to the old one
. I cant detect the reason for that. what are the factors that affect the sound?? I just want to restore the bass.. help me to do so.
