Hey prince have you checked your tappet setting because many a times a wrong tappet setting can generate heat in ur bikes engine.......Check that as soon as possible and also check the A/f ratio.......Have you tried a Xw50 engine oil on ur bikes engine???..........I think u might give that a try to decrease the heat in ur bikes engine!!!!

@rockstar: oil is ok. i have tried both xw40 and xw50, no difference. i m now using power1. so no problem with oil.
a/f ratio is also ok. but i wil still get it checked.
can u explain, how does a wrong tappet setting make engine hot.
@psr: wht will happen on disconnecting right side spark plug. plz explain

Originally the engine was designed with single plug..(CLASSIC PULSAR)The second plug was added for lower emission. This lead to the total fuel being burnt and no catalytic converter was needed....but also meant that there are no vaporizing fuel mist to cool the bore. This leads to heat related problem,in the long run.The left side plug works from 300rpm to max, while the right one from 700 rpm to 6,000. So by disconnecting the right side plug you will get better cooling of the bore, and less wear....on a long ride you will notice that the bike won't slow down due to heat.Originally posted by princesirohi View Post@psr: wht will happen on disconnecting right side spark plug. plz explain
It is upto you to try....If you don't want to,then don't do it.
Older Pulsars ran 60 K Kms without serious problems, whereas the new generation(DTSi) have many.Last edited by psr; 11-27-2010, 07:45 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

If the tappet setting is tight, then the valve displacement is very small and this in turn starts heating up the engine and in the worst case it may make the valves bent or fry them up........N neither does a very loose tappet setting do well with ur bike......It will make the valves strike more and as a result the valves get damaged again...........so the setting should be ideal.....as far as i remember the exhaust valve tappet setting should be 0.5mm where as the inlet valve tappet setting should be 0.1mm........so i would advice u to get your tappet setting done nicely......

@psr: i never knew about this problem.
@rockstar: i will get it checked.
from last 4 days a new problem arised. whenever i start the bike in morning, although it still starts in one single cranking, but it takes longer than usual to start. and when it starts it starts like a 2-stroke bike with choked carbeurator and emits lot of pure white smoke as if its burning oil. after about 30-40 secs the bikes becomes normal, it runs normal and stops emitting white smoke. strange thing is, this happens only in morning. then i go to office and in the evening when i start my bike, there is no white smoke at all. surprising thing....help me guys.

Pure white smoke is not a good sign..it means you are burning oil.Check the opening of the exhaust and see if there is black sticky coating.Run your finger along the edge to find out.I think you may have a frozen ring or valve stem seal leak.Read the spark plug it tells you of the problem.I had earlier requested you to do the above two tests and post the info..How many Kms have you done after the Bore and Piston change ?Originally posted by princesirohi View Post@psr: i never knew about this problem.

to check frozen ring and valves, i have open the cylinder head and actually yaar i m not getting time these days......
2-3 days back i did regular servicing, i checked the spark plugs for any sign. but they were ok. brownish black in color. no oily or sticky deposits. perfectly dry. only the center electrode of one plug was worn out, so replaced that plug.
i will get the cylndr head opend whe i get time......lets see.
