My friend's CBZ had the same problem, this is the kicker's spring which hardly costs Rs.15-20, but is located inside the engine, so it will have to be opened up.
If the engine is fine, they will only open it, replace the spring&put the gaskets back on. Spares required will be 2 gaskets, which are a couple of hundreds. Labor cost will be the main expense here though-anywhere from Rs.500 to 1500, depending on their rates.
Since your bike is a 2001 model, I think its a good idea to check up everything since the engine is being opened. Replace any parts if required&have peace of mind for the next few years!

replacing the kick spring is easy in herohonda as after removing the clutch cover the kick assembly can be removed without removing of clutch and total opening of engine. all Honda engines in India do not require complete engine to be opened for changing of kick spring.
        consumables are:-
        1. kick spring- 35-40 rupees.
        2. clutch cover gasket- 32-35 rupees.
        3. engine oil
it will take half an hour.
l ml freedom has the problem of complete engine dismantling for kick spring change.may be some other bikes have it but in Honda engines it can be changed only by opening clutch side cover.

Specifically in CBZ you need to open the engine & I am sure because I have got it done twice..

@ TS - Yes you will need to open the engine, if you intend to get it done in ASC it will cost you upwards of 2k & if you want to do it in local mech it will cost with in <1k.

I have done both the options.

& yes that spring only costs 12 or 15Rs but the labour which leaves a deep hole in your pocket.

oh then i am sorry. i think only the old model cbz have it. because extreme, hunk, unicorn and even the splendor, passion, super splendor and shine do not require opening of full engine.thanks for making me know.
regarding labor charge outside they will take 400-500 rupees excluding consumables. if you never have changed rings, piston or bore then have a look at bore and if it is good then just change the rings.
change the rings to 0.25 size and grind the gaps at lathe to require end gaps. this way you will get near new compression which a standard new ring will not give.

My Mechanic Says, by removing the engine, the firing of the bike will get disturbed, m therefore apprehensive about repairing bike, is this the case ??

If the work is done correctly, there should be no problem. Please refer Abhilash's&my previous posts. This is a good time to get your engine checked up&get minor replacements done. You can ride peacefully for years after this.
Get it done at a HH authorized SVC, we would advise.
