  • Effects of damaged clutch plates?

    I own a Pulsar 150 UG IV. It's 1yr 2mths old.. has clocked around 18,300Kms..
Accordin to the mechanic my clutch plates are damaged. what would be it's effects on the performance of my bike??
    my observation:
    1) pickup is gone.. the word pickup can't be associated with my bike now.
    2) gears have become realllly hard..
    3) top speed has dropped
Plz point out if any of the above are not the effects of clutch plates damage.. also wat might be the other effects of damaged clutch plates.. ?

All of them seem to occur mostly due to friction plates and/or clutch plate damages. But gear getting hardened could happen even due to worn out kicker shaft.

But nothing harm in checking the friction & clutch plates.

Additionally, was the 1st service carried out properly? Did B.A.S.S change the transmission oil as per spec? How many Km have you clocked till now?

Ooops!!! My bad; I read 1 yr 2 month as 1.2 months!!! So you can ignore this question.

A sign of bad clutch is also that the engine will catch rpm, but the bike will not accelerate correspondingly. The clutch cover side would get really hot.

Also whats the play like in the clutch lever??

not very smooth.. very difficult to shift, sometimes i feel like the lever position at which the clutch engages keeps changin (i dono if thats possible?)

it is possible. you might just have a loose clutch housing or clutch plate cover. Get bike checked asap.
