His is 87 Rx, I don't think it came with Powerbox; for that matter, none of the 100's had powerbox. Correct me if I'm wrong.Originally posted by jd666 View PostSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Since I didnt have the time, I dropped the bike at the mechanic. The first doubt was the fuel flow. The moment he removed the petrol pipe, we were amazed with the petrol force. The pressure was unusually high. Turns out that the air inside the tank had expanded because of the heat. When we opened the tank, we could hear the pressure being released distinctively.
Anyways, the mech said the problem may be in the plug because of oil deposits. So I left the bike there and asked him to check whatever he has to.
Picked the bike after three hours. Mech said he cleant the plug and thats all it needed. Took the bike for a spin and wasn't surprised to find the problem still persistent. Bike did not sustain idle speed, engine rpm was unpredicatble and bike stalled a couple of times.
I didn't bother to go back. Rather took the bike home, got some tools and opened up the reed valve. It was fine. Cleant it anyways. Then ran some diagnostics for just 20mins and traced the problem to the air filter. Removed the air filter, tweaked the carb settings and now its working like a charm. No problems at all. Idles well, runs and pulls well.
Shall be installing a new air filter tomorrow. Six months with two mechanics who failed to solve the problem and get optimum results, and now I finally do it in 20mins. Awesome!Cafe Racer Projects
