  • engine problem with new 220

hey.. i am really helpless in a situation like this.. i bought my 220 on sept. 18th 2010.. now just 6400kms .. when i completed the second service... it was alright but just after some 400kms... i got a very big sound from the engine... it was very miserable to hear.... so i bring back to the pbk at trivandrum... they told me that its cam shaft has been gone.. and they changed it also two rocker arms... then i was shocked to hear that..they told me that.. its due to engine defect.. after this incident just 500kms after.. another sound came.. now the bike is with the pbk.... guys please help me out of the problem.. should i give complaint to the consumer court...many friends told me to do so.... please help... i will get back my bike this saturday... dont know wat to do... help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the action that the bajaj Service advisor or service manager of the region is suggesting.

If they are repairing the bike, within a suitable time frame and carrying it out free of charge, you cant really file a case against them for giving you a faulty bike, since they are following up on it. Yes you can surely file a case for the distress caused in a new vehicle, and can demand a replacement or a suitable arrangement for compensation.

If they are doing it under warranty, then there isnt much left to complain.

Though it is distressing to see something like this happening. The engine might never be the same again.

      Is this a common problem??

Your motorcycle is still under warranty, provided you've carried out the recommended services on time.

You don't have to fight for anything, PBK should take care on things. If I were you, I wouldn't fight to get things repaired, but would demand a new engine to be plonked. New engine as such, cylinder, head, crankshaft & piston kit...the bare minimums.

You're messing up with your life!!! Verdict will take atleast 3-5 years depending upon other priorities, all the more, the verdict may or may not be favourable to you.

Stay calm & try to get things moving; ask for a new parts.

i understand the situation you are in. I felt something like this around the 2700kms mark on my R15, when it refused to go above 110 kmph, and the issue however was traced to a small thing, but the lax behaviour on the part of the company made my blood boil, and i offered to give them back the bike.

Lasu, try pushing for a new cylinder piston kit. Also see that you have records of whatever repairs/replacement is being done. (Bills/receipts etc with details of the work carried out)

Such things are not tobe taken PERSONALLY. It's just alittle misfortune for you and the bike. Ride the bike calmly and give the SC guys chance to get the things in the right place. Generally, complaining to Area manager get rid of the problem, effortlessly. Be prepared for such things to happen especially if it is Bajaj or TVS. They are improving, but known for such cases too.
