  • Noise from FZ's front Disk

    Hey guys,
I replaced my FZ's disk pads last week but i have been getting a noise when i apply the brakes.something like a cycle's chain when pedaled backwards.I never had this problem prior to replacing the pads.Any ideas?

and also, the new pads response is pretty much the same as my 10k old pads....why so?is it time to replace the brake fluid?

    Thank you

May be the pads are getting used to get seated properly

Well new pads aren't the best for first few days or Kms. They need to get seated properly by normal wear & tear after which they'll give best results.

What's the color of brake fluid? Open the master cylinder & check the color; if it is anything other than RED, like yellow, black or pulp, then time to change.

New disc brake liners need atleast a couple of hundred KMS to reach the full brake bite.
The noise too is because of the same. Cold weather and moisture add to the noise.

The squeking sound is due to dust getting settled on the disk pad. To get rid of the noise just find a convinient place and brake as hard as you can it will disappear in a couple of times.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

Apparently this is very common among FZ's and there is nothing wrong.Mine started since i changed my stock pads.I doubt if its Dust since i had cleaned the piston when i replaced my pads.

                    Squeaking Brakes

                    Hi,

I have a Honda VTR250 (199 and currently have squeaking brakes. I sprayed some break cleaner on to the front and rear breaks which reduced the squeak for a day, however it returned.

Any ideas on how to find a permanent solution?

This could happen when pads are new and are breaking in. It could also be dust trapped within. Or if pads are old, they could just have worn out to the extent that the inner material is literally rubbing off, thereby making sounds.
