  • Help on Maintaining Apache RTR 180

    Dear XBHPians,

First of all let me convey my heartiest wishes to XBHP and all its members for educating me, guiding me and finally helping me choose my first ever bike, the Apache RTR 180 (pearl white..). XBHP helped me a lot in weighing the pros and cons of all the bikes which I had shortlisted. Reviews by senior members, which included drilled down details and technicalities coupled with the postings and experiences on ownership forum went to great lengths in helping me zero upon the 180. Thank you all for that.

I am still a newbie when it comes to biking and the Apache RTR surely feels like a bazooka in my hands. Great bike, great power all waiting to explode given it is handled and maintained in the right way. Considering that I am novice, I wanted all you senior members out there, to advice me as to how should I go about maintaining it (apart from the regular servicing at SVC). Any specific suggestions for ensuring the longevity of engine, body color, discs, tyres will help a lot. For e.g: in the ownership thread, I had read that the default engine oil provided by TVS is not up to the mark and it should be changed after 100Kms to ensure a smooth engine. I just had it changed to Castrol 4T after 120Kms.

I know that there are tips like this in abundance scattered throughout the ownership or which bike forum. But, if all these can be collated in place, it will help all the RTR 180 amateurs like me to maintain this beautiful piece of machinery.

    Once again thank you XBHP..

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Hey Ken...thank you for approving my query.

The link provided by you seems to be pretty useful. Will try to take as much inputs as possible and provide a gist of it in this post.
