has anybody changed the seat on a TBTS to the spring seat on a Classic. The classic seat is very comfortable and absorbs the shocks well.

I am not discouraged but trying to learn from experienced bulleters so please share your comments and advice.

Note:All answers are based on my experience with my Thunderbird Twin spark in last 2 years

Ans: Just check the gasket if its worn out

2.Very uncomfortable suspension, I can feel every pothole in my spine
Ans: Check if the suspension is too hard and the gas reservoir is malfunctioning.

3.High Vibrations since I changed the Silencer to a free flow one
Ans: It is not suggested to use free flow and i experienced same problem along with drop in FE and tappet rings getting loose every now and then despite TBTS coming with automatic tappet adjuster

4.Gear literally get stuck and it is hard to change gears
Ans: RE gear shift is bit rough and once cannot expect feather touch gear shifts.

5. Sorry. I am not from Chennai

6.Basic maintenance can be always done by yourself at home.

7.Yes you can do.

8.TBTS seat is more comfortable than any other seats in RE. Since suggestion do not repalce the TBTS seats.

I m also experiencing some of the issues that you have explained.But a RE TBTS needs utmost care to be taken for each and every minor problems also.Other wise it will lead to a bigger problem.
Treat it well,it will treat you well

Please find my suggestions:
1) Check the oilseals once for engine oil leaks
2) Check each and every part of the bike for loose fittings.Bike may vibrate if the parts are loose and not in correct position
3)Gear shifts are to be done at specified speeds for smooth shifting(smooth shifting in the sense,without any stucks while shifting).RE gears are a bit hard shift but when shifted in correct ratio functions well
4)I dont know about gear oil but you can change engine oil yourself by following the manual
5) I feel TBTS seat verymuch comfortable than std seats with springs
6)Maintain correct air pressure for vibes when u come across potholes and also for FE
